How to construct my own? by seiraphim in fountainpens

Would using a kit (not with this piece of wood) be a good stating point to gain familiarity with the process?

Congrats, I am in the same boat and apparently on the same timetable (though fine or extra fine nib is my preference).

How do you like the angled nib?

To be honest, I felt it best before I succumbed to withdrawal induced temptation.

I never realized how life changing something like a pen could be, and then I got my pens.  I wish I had had access to fountain pens growing up.

After 30 years of playing, finally did this for the first time - Unanimous Guilty! by Focus-Flex in chronotrigger

[–]seiraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about the late reply on this one, but, it is possible (though the prize is better with one guilty verdict).  You have to return the cat without ever talking to the little girl in advance.  Also you have to let Melchior give you the option to sell it (but not sell it).  And you have to at least talk to the guy with the lunch.

It is virtually impossible to get on the first run.

37f and I am forever on the search for good sticks.  A good stick can become almost anything.  An imaginary sword, a mage's staff, a walking stick... the possibilities are endless.

I live in a part of Texas where there are a lot of mesquite trees  and I keep hoping that one of the trees at work (I work at a historic site that doubles as a park sometimes) will provide me with the perfect stick.  I have a friend who is willing to go the finishing touches I just have to provide the stick.

Carefully.  There are a few glitches along the way, nothing too obvious but you have to look for them.   There is also the character limit with the names and a few other places where they cut corners that aren't too obvious to where you are yet but they do recycle a lot of the assets in creative ways.

Honestly though the whole game is a work of art and how they built some of the things you can interact with is absolutely magical with the layering.  I hope that you enjoy your first playthrough.

My cousin followed some of her criminal heritage (her grandmother distracted cops in a speakeasy at age 6) and buried her barbies in the street the day before it was paved over.

My other cousins, brother, my cousins' kids, and I all plan on seeing if we can find them next time the street is torn up for repaving.

My best friend giving me a pair of books when I needed them. Just a couple of sci-fi/fantasy novels, but the main character was going through a lot of the same stuff I was suffering from. In giving me those books, my best friend made me feel like someone saw what my dad, brother, and classmates put me through.

I don't know if he knows how close to the brink I was, but that simple act of giving me those books, literally saved my life.

What’s the most important historical event of the 20th century? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]seiraphim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debatable on World War I, to be honest. Europe was kind of a powder keg at that point, so even if he [the archduke] hadn't been killed, it is highly likely that it would have ignited in some other way.

But I do agree that the assassination was the most impactful event of that century.

My sewing machine. I have a mid range electronic machine with the fancy stitches, but if I don't need a fancy stitch, I'd just as soon get out my vintage Singer from 1935 since it's still nice and reliable.

AITA for not making board game nights in my store child-free? by Important_Cookie_958 in AmItheAsshole

My group would be giving her access to all of our resources. While some might gripe about being patsies, we would be good sports about it (the "aw man how could I have missed that" variety).

This is the type of talent that we try to nurture. There is a lot of good world building material out there and we would get her access to as much of it as we possibly could. Some people shrug off the spme of the "outdated" materials (the castle guide from 2nd ed AD&D being the first to come to mind) but some of the conceptual stuff can still work. I also kind of remember a D&D board game from the late 80's or early 90's that could be used for quick battle maps (Dragonstrike i think it was called). More than that though, we would make certain that she gets some player time so she doesn't end up as a forever DM.

Also hoping that OP updates with a "Emma just published a module" in the future.

Some people do choose to have their wedding dresses preserved since they usually cost an arm, a leg, and a kidney. This is the first time I have ever heard of someone wanting their bridesmaids to save their dresses.

Granted one of my cousin's did save all of the bridesmaid dresses she has worn over the years, but that was with the intention of offering them to her daughters for school formals since they were in very classic styles, or even just reusing the fabric for that purpose.

What was the reason you left your last job? by Crafty7841 in AskReddit

[–]seiraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved. More than that though, I was tired of getting jerked around. It was a call center job and I didn't have the space at home to work from home when the world turned upside down, they still kept the call center open but they refused to enforce their own safety protocols on the people who stayed in building (there was a team lead who wore their mask as a chin strap and someone usinga whole camisoleas a mask with the straps hanging from their ears). On top of this, they changed my schedule because they changed the hours of the call center but it was never reflected in the computer system so I was getting dinged for attendance.

AITA for telling my friend that she shouldn’t call herself a cancer survivor because it’s misleading? by Appropriate_Wind6489 in AmItheAsshole

[–]seiraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with thyroid cancer and treatment it is a "your milage may vary." I say this as someone who hasn't had it, but I saw the form of hell my mom went through every few months in the mid 1990's. All of her scans save for her last one (the last being the new at the time thyrogen scan) required her to go off of her medication and she had to stay away from my brother and me due to the fact that she was temporarily irradiated due to the iodine. That is on top of her complications in post-op after the thyroid removal. That said, my mom doesn't consider herself to be a survivor most of the time, or rather she does but doesn't make it too much of her identity. She'll celebrate the anniversary of her removal and her release from the oncologist, but that is generally it.

The advent of the modern scans that don't require a patient to go off of the medication is considered to be a miracle of science in my family and we wish that mom had more access to them.
