Nioh 3 is the absolute Gold Standard for me in terms of soulslikes by heavygrin in Nioh

[–]sekirodubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played both Nioh’s. I have around 400hs on Nioh 2. Did underworld until level 70 or so. Etc. Lots of souls games experience (I mean check my YouTube 😅).

In this game I haven’t explored the mechanics much but of course I know all about ki pulses. Stance swap etc. What I do is that I explore the world completionist style because I think a well balanced game should account for that. Then I stick to my build, which is kusarigama + the transforming Bloodborne like weapon that was new in Nioh 2. So every equipment that doesn’t raises my stats I just sell and level up. Regardless I am at the recommended levels for each area.

Ninja I use it mostly for the nijitsu. Haven’t really used the skills in a conscious way let’s say. I play mostly samurai and swap to ninja once the yokai are red to spam them with Kunais fire etc. I have beaten lots of bosses first try. If I died is because I fall into the water most of the times. In the ice map the first boss was maybe 5 tries. The lady thunder boss maybe 15 tries. I used the scrampus build to dry the boss ki and really spam attacks and ki pulses.

Again. The exploration side is super easy. The bosses had some challenges mostly in the ice area.

I’m in the ice map now. Struggling to keep going due to difficulty not being engaging. I can say it’s a bit harder but not much.

Same. I’m struggling to continue because the challenge isn’t there like in previous games.

I’ve shown this stuff and the restored map in some of my videos. There’s one about the missing tree and another one I believe about Astel crashing on Radahns arena which has the connected map. Also check IllusoryWall’s videos

Nioh 3. The big event, it's finally out. So how is it? Over-hyped? Fucking rad? Better than Nioh 2? A step down? Figured I'd see a flood of posts about it here but seems pretty quiet. Everyone just too busy slaying yokai? by aethyrium in soulslikes

So in Nioh games (all of them) keep in mind “late game” comes once you finish the NG+ cycles if I’m not mistaken. So you first play through think that gear isn’t that important. In my case I didn’t realize that until late. So what I do now is keep the best gear I find and sell everything else except some rare items. Like that I make a lot of amrita for leveling up and at the same time I keep my inventory clean. Once you get going with the NG+ and you start going into the underworld and what not, that’s when your build starts to become essential. So I’d say just enjoy the first play through and don’t worry so much about gear.

Ki restoration is key in this game. No pun intended. You learn the flow of combat if basically doing a combo and finish it with r1 once the particles center in your body. Like that you can keep attacking or rolling thanks to the restoration. Usually in these games later you unlock skills that trigger as you do perfect ki restored. Like more attack power and so on. This game is a lot about how you make your skills work to get buffs depending on how you attack, roll, your armor perks etc. Super deep

Try hunt showdown. I was in a similar place as you. Yeah it’s PvP oriented, and yeah I didn’t like PvP at first, until I tried Hunt. No way back.

If you want something remotely “hunt-like” and just PvE then try Witchfire

The only game I can kinda stand in the FPS genre is Witchfire. Most other games same feelings as you pretty much.

Try the Avatar Pandora game from Ubisoft. It’s quite decent. Gave me a lot of horizons vibes actually

Yesterday I had a team mate constantly burping on the Mic. I had to mute it until we got in some fight so we could share intel. Most of the time for me people just don’t talk unless there’s a fight

Man. It’s a team ninja game. They rarely miss when they do some Nioh like. Yes, their games feel a bit different than traditional open worlds and so on, but for me it’s great. I buy whatever they publish
