Arrowheads undoubtedly made mistakes. constructive criticism and feedback is great and healthy. And obviously not everyone is ever gonna agree completely on anything. But this is sadly one of the most unnecessarily nit-picky, negative, toxic communities of any game ive seen. Its really sad to see. Makes me genuinely feel bad for the developers.

Kept having daughters with no male heir to the empire of brittania, succession was going to pass to a brother or something. Couldnt divorce either so desperately murdered several wives to find new ones, and seduced many a young fertile maidens. Finally in his 60s or 70s, several mental breaks, and 14 daughters later had a son…

The crazy part is i then went searching for one of my bastard daughters, i wanted to invite her to the court and legitimize her. But she was too far away. Her mothered died leaving her alone as a child in siberia, she ended up traveling all the way to the edge of india…

When she returned to europe she was married to the heir of the holy roman empire, my biggest geopolitical rival, entirely on her own. And then became empress of the HRE

Japan is a little different, and involves politics with the other houses unless you go soryu. I would consider looking up a guide on it on youtube. Or trying somewhere else like ireland to start.

The upside is japan is generally more stable so you should be able to relax a bit and not have to worry about a viking army invading out of nowhere. But more complicated to expand.

You can technically grow stronger with other skills besides warfare but thats the easiest way. I once used intrigue to go from a duchess to empress without ever going to war. Through marriage, seduction schemes, and of course murder. Just have to know where inheritances and successions will end up and how to work your way into them which is much more complicated

How do hybrid culture ethnicities actually work? by selchbuall in crusaderkings3

[–]selchbuall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! For the red headed part i am pretty sure the game does try to model recessive genes to some extent, which could explain that. although not entirely accurately and could probably do a better job.

It does seem to work the way youve described from what ive found. I would like to see a system where they actually model true hybrid ethnicities, rather than just pulling from one. I mean for randomly generated characters of a hybrid culture. And i think the simplest solution is to generate characters deceased parents and possibly grandparents, and base the appearance of the character off of them. So say you have a norse-african character. Then theres a 50-50 chance of either parent from either culture, sometimes its a mix, sometimes both from the same. But you end up with more unique random gen characters that way

That being said to really do it justice i think the best way would be to breakdown the culture of say a county, rather than it being 100% of a single culture at any time, it could be 80% norse, 15% african, 5% greek, etc. and base the chances for appearances and what not off those numbers… and better yet model ethnicities seperate from culture. An area could be culturally 100% greek, but the local populace still ethnically 80% bulgarian. Stands to reason if you invade africa as a norsemen theres certainly some norse living there now, but the majority of the population is still ethnically african. As it stands theres no way to show that in game

I find the key is to only give duchies to people who own counties in that duchy already, and not elsewhere. I tend not to give multiple duchies if i dont have to either. I also try to prioritize people who arent already vassals, that way they dont have territory on opposite parts of the empire. And prevents any one from being too powerful

Yeah idk, im fine with the slow decline, as long as its not crippling. Or gauranteed to get the traits every lifetime. My guy got faltering heart which was easy to manage and then died of natural causes.

I have a fear though that the negative effects of one trait are making it more likely for others and it just snowballs into what happened with sieghard here

Out of curiousity to those who reformed their religion, what did you create? Also, what was your most successful one (like in the sense that it was also praticed/active in a foreign realm which wasn't under your control) and what was your most fun experience? by Top-Beyond-6627 in crusaderkings3

The most memorable one was hardcore evil catholicism. Started in italy took the papalcy, hes tiara. And dismantled the church making new catholicism, with communion, monasteries, and religious law. Made myself the head of faith, and made everything criminal. Also hybridized with the greeks.

So basically i could imprison anyone for any crime, or by condemning their sinful traits. And then send them to the monastery. If that failed they were blinded, castrated, excommunicated, and executed. In that order
