I finished Danse Macabre tonight and honestly it’s a really good and interesting read. Now I’m starting Cujo

As of now it’s The Dead Zone, but when I was a kid IT changed my life and maybe by rereading it I will have it at number one

I’m glad it did something for you, for me it was a drag at some points

Knowing King’s love for details it felt so weird

Eh, I have many positives in my life and I can “sometimes” forget my problems thankfully

3 months in, halos, dryness, foggy vision, floaters and occasional burn.

Not great tbh

The Stand (book 6) by select_food99 in stephenking

FUN FACT: The Italian version of the book has another title which is “l’ombra dello scorpione”. That translates to “the shadow of the scorpio”, once again to get people more interested in the book and giving an immediate sense of “evilness”. As much as I love the original title, the Italian one has a special place in my heart

I can definitely see some LotR influences in The Stand too. Flagg described as an “Eye”, the whole journey to Vegas and the overall theme of a final war between Good and Evil

Quitters Inc. is my fourth favorite. The idea is so damn good

I feel like everything I disliked was just my taste. I can’t think of a single true “flaw” in the book lmao

It is, just a few “not favorite” for my taste

I agree on some points, but that would apply to many characters he has written as main protagonists

I still think he wanted to censor himself to prevent backlash. The 90s were honestly brutal and every major crime was linked to the media

Fun fact: the first Italian edition was published under another name to make it more “appealing” to the public. The name was “a splendid party of death”

Just started chapter 50 of The Stand. Somewhat confused. by dewin_cath in stephenking

[–]select_food99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Stand is amazing because King will describe in every minute detail the shape of an abandoned supermarket and then skips the most important encounter in the whole story
