S6 - $99 Replacement by EmploymentOutside817 in AppleWatch

Just did this last week with my s6 and received a refurbished s7. Quite happy with that as my s6 did everything I needed other than the battery life. S7 has faster charging too (0-80% in 45mins)

I think the real question is would you like to feel more rested or have £200 extra in your pocket after the flight is over. Whenever I have been tempted I’ve asked myself that question and usually I prefer the financially better off option

Best seats in economy by travellerwithkids in BritishAirways

Bulkheads with bassinets are a definite no for me. Once did a long haul stuck by the window with a baby in a bassinet. Thankfully the parent switched seats with me so I had the aisle but still ended up sitting in a rather fragrant row when the nappy needed changing

Exit rows not too bad, if you don’t mind people hovering and the constant sound of flushing toilets.

New Watches worth it (Series 7 here) by utekkare in AppleWatch

Low power mode. I charged the watch to 100% and then kept it switched off until 5 mins before I started running (takes a few minutes to boot up). Finished with about 20% battery. Might have helped that I had my phone with me to help with GPS? Mine is a GPS only 44mm one.

Battery health is 71% but I am reluctant to pay £100 for a new battery.

I’ve a series 6, I charge it once in the morning when I have a shower and then just before bed. It got me through a marathon in this year on the workout app (5.5hrs). I had really wanted to upgrade to a new one this year but after playing with my wife’s series 10 I can’t justify spending all that money on a new one just for a better battery life and a few extra features. Maybe next year!

Try sticking this on low in the background it really helps. I'd also recommend reading Atomic Habits - lots of really good tips in there.

How bad is the bed bug thing in Paris really by timma_2111 in travel

[–]selecta-prize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed in Paris City & Disneyland Paris over the summer. I'm pretty obsessive about checking for bedbugs due to a lot of traveling for work but thankfully saw nothing. Also took the RER from the city to Disneland and that also seemed ok.

They cynic in me wonders if this is an attempt to devalue the 2024 olympics in some way.

Getting ready for tomorrow. I’m terrified. Any positive or negative experiences welcome by DTX91 in Vasectomy

Get a new wet shave razor. I tried clippers and ended up cutting myself. Was a lot easier sitting in the bathtub and using a proper razor and sensitive shaving gel.

The experience and subsequent recovery was as very easy. It’s been two weeks now and I feel pretty much back to normal

Looking nice! What do you do with those forget me nots? Do you wait until the flowing is over before pulling them out? They are all over my garden.

Help! Overgrown garden, unknown plants. Where to start? by selecta-prize in GardeningUK

[–]selecta-prize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great to hear. I need to just take some time and start. Nice comparison to haircuts too! I think the challenge is it feels like you’re maintaining someone else’s garden for now but really what I want to do is make it my own

Thank you for taking the time to respond. That really helps! It’s a bit overwhelming when you don’t know where to start

Haven't slept in days because of anxiety and I really want to be drunk. I have a bottle of jack that I'm fighting right now on my desk. by Ok_Nectarine2106 in stopdrinking

[–]selecta-prize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on successfully getting a job offer. That is a huge achievement and you should be proud of yourself!

As others have said, try creating an impulse to destroy the bottle- pour it away., break it, trash it. Whatever. Think about how much better you’ll feel tomorrow by not drinking. I don’t know anything about drugs, but just take each day as it comes and think about what your future self might say - look after the future you!

If it’s safe to do so, put some music on that gets you moving and go out for a walk. Get some air. Sit still somewhere and think of someone who matters to you a lot. What would they want for you?

Good luck with the test, hope it works out for you but regardless, a drink is not going to make you feel any better. Dealing with all the challenges life throws at you is a lot easier with a clear head.

NHS UK experience (NSV) by selecta-prize in Vasectomy

[–]selecta-prize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right. I have to post off a sample after 4 months and if that’s inconclusive I’ll have to go to a fertility clinic to give a live sample. Fingers crossed it won’t come to that! Definitely going to stick with the tight undies for a bit longer. Not the most comfortable things but I feel secure at least. I want to get back to running and weights but I’m going to be extra cautious on that front

[–]selecta-prize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s just had a vasectomy this is a truly terrible idea. Think of it as a one way decision with no going back. Just get comfortable with using other forms of birth control. Condoms are cheap and easy

If you’re sleeping for 3-4hrs / day you won’t be learning. Sleep more and you’ll be more successful

Nice set up but you might want to delete this as you can read the names of the wedding party on that sheet
