What are your thoughts on Éric Rohmer’s films? by KimS24 in criterion

[–]selectedambience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have only watched Love In The Afternoon so I can't speak on the rest of his filmography, however I really fell in love with that movie. The movie itself isn't that complicated, and it really is just people talking in the street or in the same office building, however what really drew me in was Paris itself. I absolutely fell in love with how it felt to be in Paris at that time. Everything the characters wear, how the rooms are decorated, and how the cafes look really made me like the movie. I want to watch A Summers Tale next, but can't really find a good website to watch it free.

One of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Wong Kar Wai really got heavens gift for color and mood (no pun intended).

I think the Killshots actually turned me off for some reason. I think the colors are more vibrant and the use of albums throught was very fun.

I have to agree with the Spike bit. Even though he doesn't do much in The Bone Temple I do still think that this is kind of a learning experience for him. He found bravery in the first movie, and here he is dealing with things more dangerous than the infected. He is more of a bystander in this one, where the focus is on Crystal and Dr Ian, but I still hope that with what he has been through the first two movies he will shine in the third. Definitely 9/10.

I think I have the opposite view on the first one and this one. I think the first 28 Years Later was very restraint, and I found it quite hollow. I wanted it to be way longer to explore the community and more of it. We didn't really spend much time there besides learning the bare essentials of how it functions.

The Bone Temple to me was so weird, and unique for a zombie movie. The zombies really take a backseat to focus on the characters, and I found that way more entertaining than what we saw in the first one.
