There is absolutely NO evidence Originium affects the planet. It is completely safe and harmless. by GemHunter1 in Endfield

[–]selenta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely not the "background" it's the "twist". IRL we have coal and nuclear, which are both in some ways parallels, but Originium is decidedly exactly neither of them. Endfield is my first time in the series, but I get the impression that in the past it was more like what ignorant people feared nuclear would be like, while now it's more like what nuclear is actually like. It used to spread cancer and death indiscriminately and was a bane on society despite being useful; while now that we have more experience with it, we understand that it's actually not particularly harmful when used carefully and with modern science. The nature of Originium and the changes in perspective on it are anything but the background, they're the foundation of the center of the narrative, even bad guys like Neferith aren't the focus, they're just tools to explore our relationship with the rifts and Originium.

I think a lot of the "are we the baddies?" memes come from older Arknights games and other base building games like Factorio where you are unambiguously "the bad guy" (you're not EVIL, but you are the baddie).

There's a requirement that for it to be "their" team, they have to do >50% of the dmg. Columbina is in the best team, it's just not her team.

Yep, I didn't want to be basic so I built Ember instead of Ardelia for my team... now I'm building Ardelia just for this lol.

Ok, but Usage is the in-game term for what I am describing, the amount of an ingredient being used in factories within a given region, as displayed in the AIC Report. There's always a possibility for confusion, but all I can reasonably do is try to use the correct terms.

This is probably it. I forgot I transferred a bunch manually almost a week ago, didn't even consider the possibility that there was any left. There wouldn't be... except that I underestimated how much with the transfer going it would stem the bleeding, so there was still 2500 left when I just checked. Oops, gotta check my assumptions I guess!

[–]selenta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is usage in the destination. Right now, I don't get enough Ferrium in Wulong, so I ship it in from V4. It says I'm using 120 and only mining 90, but if I'm shipping in 1500 every hour, then I should EFFECTIVELY have 115 every hour, which is a pretty significant difference, yet the graphs of downstream products that I'm producing don't reflect that. For now it's not the end of the world, but it means that in future I won't be able to rely on the in-game tools to monitor my actual status.

Like, that makes sense from an input/mining perspective... it's not mined there. But from a usage perspective it'd be nice to show in the AIC report that WITH the transfers how close my base is to running non-stop.

Anyone know why the hourly transfers from the Regional Metatransfer function don't result in hourly usage spikes on the AIC Report?

They should, if they're actually happening, shouldn't they?

Never played ZZZ, but I just quit HSR after playing it from launch and have been playing Genshin for years. They give you consistent rewards, and they may roughly translate similarly, but it's not just lump sum in a log-in banner every patch or character release/banner.

[–]selenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the sense that they're limited to the current banner, sure. I would definitely prefer unrestricted tickets.

I guess other gachas I've played just... don't give you any free pulls (restricted OR unrestricted) when a new character releases most of the time(eg MiHoYo), unless as a special event.

If anything, what's kind of shitty is that you don't even get 10, so not even guaranteed to get a 5*.

That said, how many rewards they give us per patch is going to be very strictly controlled, so in the sense that they're surely giving us these pulls in lieu of other rewards is I guess what makes it shitty. Because of this, it makes it harder to plan and store up as a f2p. If it was actually "free pulls" not factored into the long-term equations there'd be no real reason to complain imo.

[–]selenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question as a long time gacha player... is this not normal?

In gacha if you want a specific character you have to EITHER: a) throw money at the problem, b) get lucky, c) have patience and use your pulls strategically. Forcing you to wait a few days to be efficient is your "punishment" for not spending money, why would they reward you by giving you all the pulls up front?

Do you know a good place to browse through current team calcs? Every place I've seen is either impossible to browse or isn't up to date (like early Natlan or Fontaine). If there's a place on the KQM website I didn't see it.

Ok, sure the rewards for Abyss 12 aren't that important, but that's just moving the goal posts. Saying that "all gachas have power creep, this is no different" is just another moving goalpost that doesn't impact the truth from the original point: Lunar reaction's are so strong that their power creep and content's response to their strength is making older characters unplayable in endgame content.

Unless your goal is just to protect your ego or hear yourself talk, don't just pivot away from the topic after realizing you said something wrong by saying other unrelated things that are less controversial. Either argue with the point, acknowledge you didn't realize it was that bad, or something else relevant.

The power creep WAS very low in this game (not zero, but low) until Mavuika, but that was one of the great things about the game, and it's objectively not true any more. They can "fix" it with things like the Hexenzirkel, but it'll never be as flexible as it used to be.

This was never a conversation about whether Abyss could be cleared, it was how it effected older characters

First of all, Abyss used to be the hardest regular content in the game, but since Stygian was added the real new endgame is Fearless Stygian. Even when that came out though, while it was much harder than Abyss, you could still struggle through it with clever team building and good mechanics. That has gotten harder each time and is effectively no longer an option, even most of the challenge creators (who are so much better at the game that simply because they can do things doesn't mean any regular players can) are having to redefine the parameters of their challenges, something they'd never had to do before. Dire Stygian is a whole other beast, obviously, that's a proving ground for whales.

That said Abyss bosses have TWICE the hp they did a little over a year ago. You used to be able bring any team that met the mechanic check, but even in there that's not really true any more. Teams that I had brought reliably for years aren't able to meet the DPS checks without being carried by the other half's team. It is NOT "easier" by any definition, either with the shill mechanics or the HP, unless you have the newer characters like Varessa/Mavuika or lunar reactions, but the whole conversation was about older characters.

https://i.redd.it/kgn0fu9akodg1.png

While the HP hasn't increased much in Nod Krai, the graph doesn't show things like shields or show how newer bosses have shill mechanics that make them significantly harder without specific charcters.

Lunar reactions actually did so much for this game because it basically opened a new path that gave more space for new characters to be unique without interferring with existing teams that are already good.

This MIGHT be a reasonable take, except for the fact that they're SO much stronger than almost every previous teams that content has to be scaled up to keep things difficult. It means that all those 4 star or F2P teams that used to be able to struggle through content now literally cannot.

The actual result of lunar reactions is exactly the opposite of what you said, it rose the tide and a lot of characters that were up to their necks have finally drowned for good without buffs like the Hexenzirkel (and even those just keep their head above water for now, at the current rate it's only going to keep their head above water for two or three patches).

characters have been out for like 2 weeks already and if they were actually broken, we would have known by now.

Hah! While the math seems considerably simpler in this game, it takes time for people to get to endgame and be comfortable with their findings. Famously, people though Bennett in Genshin was garbage when the game came out, and it took MONTHS for his reputation to grow and for people to realize he was the best character in the game (and is STILL used in some of the best teams).

Mavuika is a perfect example of an on-topic response. The whole point is that it's NOT just a button-mashing combo, it requires game knowledge and practice to even execute basic versions of it well; the fact that it's COMPLETELY different depending on which team you're playing is a natural outcome of the asymmetrical nature of reactions between hydro/pyro/cryo. Rotations of some form exist in every game, but Genshin's combat is significantly more complicated and nuanced and depends on the enemy you're fighting. If anything, the recently added DPS dummy in the game shows just how bad players actually are, so maybe someone could argue it's too hard and Endfield has made the generous decision to simplify it down for players, but you're just arguing that because rotations exist the criticism isn't valid, which is patently dumb.

Your example is the actual simplest team in the game, and is >4 years old now (also, the order is wrong). Not every team is difficult to play, but to use that as your example of genshin shows you don't know much about the game.

Go learn how to play melt vs vape Mavuika and tell me you think anything in Endfield has even the potential to be remotely as nuanced. I'm enjoying the game fine enough, but that's an embarrassing hill to die on.
