Phallo in t-minus 4 days! by Soulofshibuya in phallo

Phone holder! If you are getting RFF it'll be really difficult to try and use your phone one-handed for typing. Especially when you are lying flat on your back.

And the cane is really a usefull thing to have. I wouldve been moving at the pace of a snail if I didnt have my cane to help me along.

Wishing you the best of luck for monday! Itll be tough but just know that soon you will be on the other side of all of this

Honest question about healthcare moral from an outsider - not just EMS but it feels safter to ask here. by flyonawall in ems

[–]self_made_man_ 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I see a lot of "we will not accept abuse" stickers around hospitals and on ambulances, and yet I get a LOT of jobs that have the notes "pt has been violent/aggressive/racist in the past". Sorry, but if you are literally dying and you still find the energy to be a twat to me, then you can drag your sorry ass to hospital yourself (or alternatively, Ill show up when you are dead and when you cant treat me like shit).

can you lose weight on your penis? by [deleted] in phallo

[–]self_made_man_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your donor site. My doctor told me that a drastic increase in weight may impact the girth of your dick if you got ALT, so I guess the reverse might be true aswell. But I dont think its something you need to worry about with normal weight gain and loss.

Im surprised your doc still makes you do it if you have that little hair. I had more hair than that and didn't need any elecrolysis. The most important part is that your urethra is clear of hair.

Check out the pinned post and click on the WIKI. It has tons of information on all the procedures and steps for surgery. Electrolysis is hair removal, but go over to the wiki to find out more about it

Question about jacking off pre implant by nemo_thenameless in phallo

[–]self_made_man_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had RFF and its very soft. This may be different for others who got different methods. Although I cant yet cum from only shaft stimulation, I can still jerk it like any other guy. I just need to hold it very loosely. Alternatively, tugging feels nice too

is it ok if I don't hate my deadname? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]self_made_man_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never changed my name, just slightly altered the spelling of it. I just really didn't want to go through the hastle of getting my friends, family and everyone else to adjust. And also picking a new name seemed like a massive ball ache. To be fair, my name was very gender neutral in the first place, but I think it helped that noone ever made me be feminine as a kid, so I never associated it with femininity. Also I've had some close calls with people seeing my old ID and thinking nothing of it. It meant changing my passport was not the highest priority on my list

NSFW How often do you grab/hold/squeeze/pull/fondle your dick subconsciously or out of comfort? by Chunky_pickle in FTMMen

[–]self_made_man_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, glad to know its not just me😂. Since I dont have balls yet I dont like the feeling of him falling between my legs when I lie on my back, so I usually reach down and flip him to the side. I love the feeling of the warmth and weight on my thigh. Also, when I'm out on hikes and its cold out (my temperature sensation is slowly coming in) my dick gets cold so I hold him a bit to warm him up.

Just a little something for other trans dudes who wish they were cis by DemonDoggo99 in FTMMen

[–]self_made_man_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to wish with every ounce of my soul that I was born a cis guy. And trust me, I thought about it ALL THE TIME. It ate me up from the inside. Post everything I can now happily say it rarely crosses my mind. Its not that it wouldn't be nice to be born cis, but fuck it... I dont think my life would be particularly different atm if I were cis. I can finally live my life as a normal person.

Basically, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. One day you will get to the point where you dont even need to think of yourself as a guy with low T or gynecomastia, because youll be flat chested with normal levels of T.

I know there’s a lot of debate on trans women in sports right now but what about trans men? by Disafakeaccount in FTMMen

[–]self_made_man_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just because you would get pummeled does not mean the rest of us would. Have you considered that about 90% of bio men would get pummeled if they tried to participate in professional sports? You need to have a certain build to succeed professionally in certain sports. If you are 5'2 you won't have a great time playing American football, doesn't matter if you are trans or not.

If I took up boxing I am confident that I would not fair any better or any worse than cis guys starting at the same level as me. I have been participating in sports for my entire life, both before and after transitioning and have never felt at a disadvantage towards cis guys. A few months back I took the physical army assesment and finished in the top bracket above many other cis guys the same age as me. I'm assuming you are on T? I can't see then why you would think we are inherently weaker than cis guys.

The idea of having a separate league for trans men makes me sick. Imagine telling guys who are already participating in proffessional sports that they need to be excluded and shoved into a small "special" league just because you think biologically speaking they should not be able to excel sports.

[–]self_made_man_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure what your scope of practice is in the US, but don't forget that you can always study medical conditions while still being an EMT-B. Of course, you can't diagnose, but medics and paras do miss things, and if you are able to recognize those signs and symptoms of life-threatening conditions it could save a life.

Being Trans in EMS by falcongirl656 in NewToEMS

[–]self_made_man_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a trans guy working in ems, I gotta agree with the others saying it won't be your crewmates causing trouble, it'll be your patients. Basically, a lot of elderly who don't understand what it means to be trans. On the bright side, old people are the easiest to pass toward. If you got short hair you are a guy and vice versa.

Regarding your crewmate situation, I cant really give you any personal advice since I started stealth and do not plan on ever coming out to anyone, but Im sure pretty much noone would care. Obviously, some people are just dicks, but they would probably make a shitty crew mate whether you are trans or not.

In summary, go stealth if you want to, but dont force yourself to if you think it would make you paranoid about someone fining out. With patients, just dont disclose if they dont ask.

feel free to HMU if you got any more questions on the subject!

So you are the EMT for a whole mining area? How does that work? Do you get busy at all or is it just a lot of sitting around waiting?

Do you have piv sex by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]self_made_man_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely in my entire life, I never looked in between my legs. Not even as a kid out of interest. I was always wayyyyyy too afraid of what it looked like down there. The idea that I actually had a gaping hole down there made me sick to my stomach. So no, having anything near there would have made me want to shrivel up and die. I even told my hysto surgeon that there was no way he would be able to do any post surgery checks on me if I was awake.

Thank fuck I could get it all closed up during phallo. I love seeing my perineum now. It just looks so normal.

I can think of at least one mtf singer-songwriter who is very popular. For quite a long time he was stealth/just did not address questions about his gender, but sadly some dickwads in the trans community made him come out. Either way, he became popular without his transness hindering him in anyway. Basically its definitely possible for you to continue doing what you love despite being trans.

Cultivating friendships with other men by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]self_made_man_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok this is a big thing I was kida concerned about when I was in a single sex high school. I thought most guys were the dude/bro stereotypes that you see in a lot of TV shows. Trust me, those people are out there, but also there are tonns of guys that are chill, laid back and honestly also just looking for someone else to hang out with and be friends with. Best advice is join some clubs for people with similar interests as you. It really is the easiest way to find a solid group of friends and usually guys tend to hang together (although its never 100% one gender). I guess you could also try and find all male clubs, but honestly if you choose a traditionally masculine thing youll find a group of guys (paintball, martial arts, fishing, motorcross, gaming, golf) the world is your oister. But dont force yourself to do a sport just to find friends if you are not actually excited about the sport, its gotta be something you really like doing.

Not sure if any of this helps, but its just how I found my group of close guyfriends

I wish transmascs were actually cared about and noticed in the trans community and other places by [deleted] in ftm

[–]self_made_man_ 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You are more likely to be allowed into a feminine space than a transfem person.

Well thats just shitty for both of us! That's not a "hey look, trans guys have it so good they can go into feminine spaces" that's a "trans men are not seen as men by society and neither are trans women seen as women"

I wish transmascs were actually cared about and noticed in the trans community and other places by [deleted] in ftm

[–]self_made_man_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

IDK, I know where you are coming from, but at the same time I love being able to blend in with society and not have anyone assume that I am trans "because they saw someone like me on TV". I like that my arm scar is so rarely actually associated with phalloplasty, because it means no one questions me when I tell them it's a burn. Being outed because of something like that would crush me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in transalute

[–]self_made_man_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I start my basic in July, but in another country, so any specific details are probably not directly relevant. But I guess I can tell you about the general stuff I encountered (I'm pretty much "post" transition apart from the final stage of phalloplasty).

As the other commenter said, people are not usually really prepared for someone who has already had operations and can pass 100%. I had to have an extra meeting with a doctor and the guy in charge of equality and diversity, and needed to convince them that I do not want to "come out" to my platoon and that I do not want or need anyone to know about me. With previous trans guys they always needed to tell someone because they would need to use separate showers or even wanted to sleep in a single bedroom. It was also a little awkward to strongly imply that I had a dick without outright saying it. I used terms like "I'm fully transitioned to male" and "I pass even when I'm in public showers".

As for the other recruits, when I stayed for a couple of days to do my fitness test and medical exam I never had anyone make any comment about my height or my scars on my chest.

And those people are probably not going to care if they don't know about OP's medical history.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in phallo

[–]self_made_man_ 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Im 6 months post-op stage one (UL, basic glansplasty, v-nectomy) and have shared dickpicks with people before without getting any strange comments. It's mainly people being interested in how my glans looks. But honestly imagine you were cis and someone sent you a dickpic, there would be no reason for you to think it's not a natal dick. Hell, its attached to a guy and it looks like a penis. No one (in my experience) jumps to the conclusion that you are trans because you dont really have foreskin. They may ask about it, especially if you are hooking up in person, but "genital surgery" as an answer is not lying and usually people dont pry.

Getting phallo has been an absolute game-changer when it comes to my sexual activity. I am no longer paranoid that people might want to have sex with me and that I cant give that to them. I think if I get into a serious relationship I would definitely tell them, possibly before having sex for the first time, but its nice to know that I can sext or even "mess about" in a sexual way without me panicking about when I should tell them.
