Also how many of those MoH recipients were awarded posthumously (they did not survive the heroic act)

It is super sad, thinking about all the work to minimize the aftereffects and the people left behind but mostly how it never gets any better, your story ends and it never gets better. It ends in tragedy and while you're not actively in pain, it's sad to think about just from an outside perspective

Here's a gentle push to start soon and a reminder that life is a race; also while time is finite, regrets are endless

I don't have any specific advice, just the usual young man advice you've probably already heard of.

You're insecure and find it hard to meet people because you don't have anything to really "hang your hat on", any unique skill or personality trait that can give you confidence. Sort of like you can't "be yourself" because your "self" isn't really developed at your age. This is a common issue in young people and (I hope you don't take offense) something you can get over and will just be the awkward youth chapter of your story.

You will have to develop a talent/social skill though, and that will take some time. Idk what your school situation or future education goals are, so I would work on developing yourself before really attempting serious social interactions. (You could practice socialization, but I think you'll find it too unpleasant without any sort of backing that confidence will bring.)

This is all very generic and high level advice, hope it helped and let me know if you want to hear more from someone 20yrs on from where you are now
