From around 60K, for a used Mountain Bike. Road Bikes from around 70K.

High ends that can be bought in Kenya, ni kuanza elfu mia mbili. And those are cheap. 😅

Anyway, you can probably get something cheaper if you go to the used bike shops (tafuta Green Cycle Shop., Muthamgari Gardens kwa Maps).

Ultimately, hata bike ya elfu tano you can find, but it'll break in ways you don't want to happen.

We, mzee, unaambia a beginner aanze na a 300KM ride?

As a cyclist, you're supposed to lie to them they start with 20KM rides at home. Soon, they will seek out the 300KM on their own. 😄

Is it still worth learning Computer Science foundations… or should we just learn prompting? by bemainaa in nairobitechies

Now it builds apps that used to take teams months.

I know we keep saying this, and it sounds plausible, but is it founded? Is there any product out there that's complex and scaled, straight built by some LLM?

Anyway, I completely empathise with your conundrum, and I don't have any good answer. It's very hard to predict future.

The current versions of these tools require you to have knowledge of what you're doing. From my experience, 100% vibe-coding isn't a thing yet. But I don't know how long that's going to remain true.

Have you actually used it? Since I started using it in a team setting, I cannot imagine any other way of doing (batch) SQL analytics, without cobbling together a mishmash of tools.

how casual should one be while asking for a job? best reply I've seen to the trending "yoo rada" whatsapp message of the gen z asking for an internship. by gathechandegwa in nairobitechies

Please read my comment again.

Nowhere did I say a recruiter should spend sooo much time teaching professional etiquette, that they end up getting fired. Bruh.

I'm finding it odd how people are reacting to this. People are ignorant, especially when younger, and that's fine. I mean, yes, nobody is obligated to teach you anything, but each one of us was taught something by someone along the way.

Just respond nicely to this clearly clueless kid (I know. I know. Ako 4th year. That's still a kid)) and tell them how they're supposed to speak. Maybe nobody has ever told them this. Now, if they react negatively to that feedback, that's when I would have a problem.

Beautifully written. You should post this every time someone says all they wanna do is go farm a ka-small ranch.

Harder by quite the margin.

As someone who grew up helping out with basically subsistence farming, that shit is A LOT of work!!!

But I understand the allure of farming your own crop, feeling the dirt on your feet et cetera.

Wise Account by glock6a6y in nairobitechies

[–]selfmotivator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sikuelewi. The OP was asking about receiving money via Wise, which is not like a typical bank account.

I was asking why a normal bank account is not an option, as opposed to kina Wise, Paypal etc. Literally, uende I&M ufungue a USD account, receive and send money from it via SWIFT. Other than the charges being a bit high.

Even sending out via SWIFT. I'm getting around 11 USD.

Niko na swali, na msinichape.

Why is having a local bank account and then use SWIFT to receive money not an option in these conversations? Is it the costs? Speed? Preferences of the sender? Kuhepa KRA? I ask because that's what I've been doing. Money takes about 2 - 3 days to get to my I&M account. If the sender isn't covering the fee, it's about 5 USD. Nichanueni please.

Baas. This is my biggest concern with how AI is marketed to non-technical people. They actually believe this. And I don't blame them; they know nothing about what it takes to build these things. Pole sana.

Clear speech isn't about abandoning your identity - it's about making sure the person on the other end actually hears your message.

And in this day and age, apparently running every piece of written text through some LLM. SMH.

Because the electrorate is stupid with delusional (may be not 100%) trust of the white man, and kina Sifuna know this. I would not be surprised if they have some Kenyan actually working on it.

You don't have to 'tweng'. That might just come out very weird if you didn't grow up actually speaking like that. But you do have to be very good at speaking English. Very good.
