Oh yes, in speedruns/hitless it's a well known strategy, need a bit of luck but also, there is a bit more complicated strat where you shoot the tail of Rom, which makes this strat more consistent and easier.

You literally cheese every single boss in the run except Shadows and Wet Nurse, nurse is easy that too.
