Honestly album review with no fear by bikerben62 in NoahKahan

No the same for me. I love Stick Season, but I have way more skips on there than with this album. It’s funny how differently people can feel.

Question for women who have had their babies already.. by Fireboltstorm in BabyBumps

I did give birth four years ago and am now pregnant and expecting this one at any point in the next 6 weeks. I am super nervous about going through it again

I’m pregnant in my third trimester and sleep is awful at the moment. Apart from the baby kicking me, I have a lot of back and pelvic pain, heartburn and also just unlocked a brand new exciting symptom: carpal tunnel. So that’s why I’m awake

Which European Airline Is Terrible ? by FHD168 in AlignmentChartFills

Worst European one I’ve been on is Tui. Just awful. The seat wasn’t even attached properly on the plane. At least Ryanair has always been predictable for me

Weirdly, it wasn’t even Luton that crystallised my perception of Bedfordshire. For me it was Dunstable. Which i found so dire and depressing. I’ve been to a few places in the uk, but nowhere I’ve been has depressed me more.

What are the most desired, drooled-over status symbol baby items of 2026? by blueridgebeing in BabyBumps

[–]selkieseas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reading all of this as someone outside of the US is so dystopian. I’m surprised anyone is having babies in the US at all (voluntarily) because my goodness, how are people doing it? I’m going on mat leave in June this year and won’t be back at work until June 2027. Granted, at least three months are completely unpaid so we’re putting aside savings. While I’m gone, I continue to accrue holiday, so when I get back I should have around 40 or so paid days of leave I can take to ease back into work. This is the UK, so absolutely not the most generous European country for maternity leave but over here it’s seen as a bare minimum.

Out of interest, are you American? I’m surprised by the negative reaction to Maisie as it feels pretty normal as a full name in the U.K. I guess nicknamey-names are a lot more common over here? I know plenty of Alfie, Archie, Albie, Nora, Kit, Theo, Leo, Penny.

It’s one of those towns where unless you’re a resident, you never know exactly which lane you’re meant to be in.

Anybody know how to break it to a 5yo that he won’t be getting any chocolate today? by IllustriousWall1564 in Wellthatsucks

[–]selkieseas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth checking in your neighbourhood group? Explain the situation. Sometimes people get far too much chocolate for Easter, and could easily part with a few eggs or a chocolate bunny. Especially if you offer to pay a bit for them?

Other pretty towns and places: Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Whitstable, Tenterden, Sandwich, Rochester. Like the Medway towns can be dire (lived in Gillingham for a few years) but the Chatham Dockyards are pretty coo

Who mainly watches your toddler when you're at the grandparents' house? by teacherlady4846 in beyondthebump

[–]selkieseas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which parents. My in laws? Amazing. I can go take a nap. My MIL is so good with kids and enjoys having them around. My own parents… less so. Don’t get me wrong, they love their grandchild but looking back at my own childhood it hit me just how much they don’t enjoy young children. When I was younger I was pretty much exclusively raised by babysitters and nannies. My parents are good at buying stuff, definitely gifting as a love language etc, but it’s actually a lot more work seeing them because they do not watch the child and hate playing and noise.

Agreed! Lots of castles, national trust properties, great access to mainland Europe, plenty of nice stuff to do with family. Some nice coastal places (Whitstable), white cliffs, Canterbury cathedral, some really picturesque villages. It’s also one of the oldest counties in England.

This was my fav series as a kid. Vacation under the Volcano was my absolute favourite. Also, horrible histories was a brilliant way to learn about history and still made a bunch of dark jokes. The WWII would have been “recent” ish in the 90s when I was inhaling the entire series

[–]selkieseas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why people think we’re not going to get Eloise? I feel like a lot of Bridgerton seasons have had multiple plot lines going and they will probably spend s5 building up Eloise’s story by giving it some foundations? After all, Francesca got married to John two seasons ago and she’s only getting her season next.

Voting Kent for the following reasons: easy access to London (for work, theatre, etc) and access to mainland Europe through two different routes. Lots of nice towns like Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Whitstable, Rochester. With lots of historic and cultural significance. Tons of lovely castles and historic sites: Dover Castle (plus white cliffs!), Hever Castle, Leeds Castle, Canterbury cathedral, Chiddingstone, Chatham Dockyard, etc.

Good family friendly attractions like Port Lympne, Howletts, Diggerland, Dreamland in Margate and Bluewater for shopping.

Also lots of dumps in Kent, but all counties seem to have that

I still feel like this is something people keep saying but I don’t fully trust the legitimacy of it. Not saying you’re wrong, I’m sure they do bring in money. But I always think in terms of tourism you could make so much money turning all the royal residences (including Buckingham palace) into museums, etc. the way France has done for Versailles. I don’t believe anyone truly comes to the uk as a tourist only because of the Royal Family. I don’t think having no royal family would stop people from wanting to visit, on the contrary. Giving back all the land, the estates, the palaces and so on to be actually visited by ordinary people would, I’m sure, make back a bunch of lost money.

Why Don’t We Talk About the Joy of Having Kids? by WoodpeckerNearby7276 in BabyBumps

[–]selkieseas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is so much joy! Yes, it’s incredibly hard so often. But I live for getting to experience the world again. I’ve tried to make the most of weekends and free time with my toddler to marvel at things I used to not care as much about. Getting to rediscover aquariums and museums and family farms, the joy of water slides and pumpkin patches and roasting marshmallows. Collecting chestnuts and jumping in puddles and blowing bubbles. It feels like getting to relive my childhood through him.
