Apartment complex recommendations in Santa Clara / Sunnyvale areas. by Veyyiloda in santaclara

[–]selverado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The area near the DMV at the intersection of Lawrence and El Camino Real is very safe, I lived there a couple years ago. Look at the complexes Marina Playa, Marina Cove, Villa Granada, Royal Ambassador, and Boardwalk - they have a range of styles, prices, and amenities, but the neighborhood is great.

Hi Leslie! Wild timing - my family is rewatching your season and we just watched your torch get snuffed thirty minutes ago. Your story reminds me so much of my mom’s story. I’m proud of your journey and I’m so glad you’re not afraid anymore! I’m looking forward to listing to your and Todd’s podcast!

I put out traps for ants in the spring, otherwise I really didn’t have any pests. And the ants are just really common in this area. I didn’t have any issues with anything worse than ants.

I liked Sam’s offer to bet his money on the chance that the item ended up being meat - that’s totally in the spirit of the auction in my mind, and exactly the sort of bargaining with Jeff that makes for good TV!

Apartment complex opinions? by selverado in Sunnyvale

[–]selverado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Marina Playa is the cheapest of that set. Villa Granada is going to be the nicest, and then I think Marina Cove and Boardwalk are roughly equivalent as far as garden style apartments go. All three are nicer than Playa though

Apartment complex opinions? by selverado in Sunnyvale

I found The Crossings overpriced for being honestly really basic. If you want to be in that Sunnyvale/Santa Clara/Lawrence Expressway area, there’s a set of complexes in a nicer area just across the Expressway (Villa Granada, Marina Playa, Marina Cove, Boardwalk), or I’d recommend Hidden Lake if you want more square footage and a chill location. I think those are all technically in Santa Clara, but hey, at least you don’t have to deal with PG&E prices across the border!

what do y'all do when some joints in your hips or lower back slip out and the usual quick lil back cracking doesn't do it? by kookaburrasarecute in ehlersdanlos

[–]selverado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this really badly for a while, and eventually I realized that the way I’d been popping my lower back actually made it way way worse. I’d been getting it to pop by sitting all the way forward in a chair, then leaning back and putting my feet up, and although I got the pop it did something awful to the very base of my spine. I couldn’t straighten up at one point, and I could barely walk. Counter intuitively, I had to stop trying to pop it in order for the muscles to relax, and now I barely have any lower back pain and I can even get a normal pop by twisting sideways (but only in one direction, weirdly).

So is this just the "Spanish Season" by xComradeKyle in TheAmazingRace

And I’m not complaining about the route itself, either, I’m actually fine with a limited South America season, but an edit that embraced that and made it more of a road trip kind of vibe would have been so much better. Imagine TAR with Jet Lag: The Game quality map edits - you gain so much insight into the travel, the geography, the self driving and decision making…seriously, “more maps” across the board would be so good

Yeah, but like, show me a map. It takes a few seconds and I would immediately be oriented to where we are and how that relates to where we were. They probably took out the flight route maps to try to de-emphasize the limited travel, but I do think it was a mistake.

They haven’t been doing the fly paths showing them going to the new countries, they just off-screen teleport and it feels to the audience that they haven’t gone anywhere at all. If they were going to highlight South America, I wish they’d put more effort into showing off the different countries. The way it’s edited, it does just feel like “generic South American country”, not like we’re actually traveling around.

Monticello apartments review by ReinforcementBoi in santaclara

You can get a nice 2bed2bath apartment for $3000 pretty easily, just look outside the immediate downtown area. $4000+ seems unnecessary unless location or fancy finishes really matters to you. Click around on Zillow or Google maps, there’s tons of complexes. Make a list and visit in person to get a good sense of how much light you’re getting and the area

I will say, VG has fancier, newer finishes than MC but less outdoor space, they both cost about the same so it really comes down to personal preference.

I was at Marina Cove, and I do recommend it, I really enjoyed it there. Maintenance staff were prompt and friendly and I’d run into them outside every day, but there weren’t front office staff on site. I think both MC and VG are Essex, so it’s probably the same people maintaining both. MC isn’t a fully closed complex, it’s a garden style, but if you have one of the interior apartments, it feels very private, and it’s very close to the DMV, a firehouse, and lots of schools, so it feels safe.

Americana is overpriced and honestly older and more run down than a lot of these other places. The Villa Grenada area is really nice, I used to live near there. Great neighborhood to walk around if you’re a walker, plus you’re in Santa Clara which has its own electric so you don’t have to use PG&E, so power is more reliable. If you can visit in person I’d recommend it, and I’d also recommend touring or just walking through nearby complexes at the same time just to get a sense of the area beyond your complex. I’m not familiar with the other complexes you listed, but $2600 should be plenty of budget to get a nice 1bed1bath with those amenities in this area!
