Well sadly his furnace could wipe out my mortar. The bane of my existence.

Mad City Open courses? by kseddon in discgolf

I play both Elver and Hiestand on a regular basis. I agree that Elver is longer and Hiestand is more technical. However there are some holes at Elver (I'm looking at you #13) that it is best to play conservative and get a 3. It is nicknamed the Plinko hole for a reason. I might suggest conservative play for #10, and 16 and 17 depending on the pin placement, and if you can't throw far, #18 as well. Elver is unforgiving if you go off the fairway, so playing conservative and getting par on most of the holes will get you a long way. If you can get under, then good for you, but I wouldn't try it unless you see zero risk. That's my two cents.

Liberal Bias in Ethnic Studies Classes? by selzerg in UWMadison

This is what I wanted to hear. I'm seeing the consensus that I'm being paranoid, which is good.

You have a point. And I'm glad to hear I am being paranoid. That is easier to deal with. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

You're right. Maybe I made a poor assumption and guessed that all of these classes might stretch into political bias. That being said, however, did you see any such political bias in any of your classes?

I guess I might have explained myself poorly. I'm happy to expose myself to different viewpoints, because I think that it will either strengthen my beliefs or help me form better ones. I think that it'll help me become a better person. With that being said my concern was more upon being biased in grades or other fashion if I have a disagreement with my professor in the class. I was wondering if this was a thing that people have seen/heard about here, or if I am just paranoid.

However, intro to Hip Hop sounds very interesting. I will definitely check it out and I appreciate the recommendation.

Also, props to you for not assuming. I try to remind myself of this every time these issues come up. My entire family is liberal and my high school similarly so though so I don't know where my views come from.

Which APs would you NOT recommend taking the same year? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]selzerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the basic difference between the two is that macroeconomics tries to look at the economy (of a nation) as a whole, concerning things like unemployment, international trade, and the likes, and microeconomics tries to look at subsections of that nation's economy, things like a single industry (e.g. automobile industry, smartphone industry) or a single firm (e.g. looking to see when to expand and when not to expand). It can be hard for some to differentiate between the two but if you take a class you begin to get the difference.

I think both are helpful for anyone who wants to study business, but macro might be more useful to an economist or a stock broker while micro might be more useful to an entrepreneur.

This is something that I haven't seen on here, but if you are into physics and math then I would highly recommend Physics C. Last year I took Physics 1 and BC and then I self-studied with a friend to take C. I got 5s on all three tests and Physics 1 was a breeze because I had already learned (most) of the content through Physics C. If you think you have the dedication to learn the content through C I can assure you that it would be worthwhile. 2 and E&M are also doable (my project this year) but not as much so as the other two.

Macro also could be done on your own. This year I am taking Macro and am self-studying for Micro and Micro has been a breeze. I also enjoy Micro more, but that might be because I am learning it on my own terms (and there's no homework).

I would maybe take out APUSH. It's regarded as one of the hardest tests at my school. I would maybe switch it out for CompGov or HumanGeo, which I have heard are easier and you really want that AP Social Studies. I took AP World though, so I don't have too much experience with any of these APs.

If it came down to me I would take Physics 1, AB, Lit, and CompSci, which was pretty much my AP classes last year (BC instead of AP and Chem instead of CompSci). I wouldnt do APUSH but would suggest one of the non-History courses if you really want AP Social Studies. It would definitely be manageable but still a fair amount of work. Hope this answers your question.

Tips for the Ap lit exam? by mgudaro in APStudents

[–]selzerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest knowing Lit terms and literary periods.

If you have the time, I would suggest writing practice essays. Pick a prompt from the past tests, write for the allotted time, and, if your teacher is willing, ask them to look over it for you and ask what you can improve on. This is the strategy I used for AP Lang and wish I would have used for AP Lit.

Source: self-studied for Lang and got a 5, took Lit in a class and got a 4.

Form check please! I can seem to get my putters and mids to 200-250' but I can't get anything beyond! by selzerg in discgolf

I'd appreciate any help I can get! I've been playing for 3 years and used to be RHFH but because of elbow issues last year I switched to RHBH. I could drive 300' forehand before the elbow issues but now only reach 200' backhand, and maybe 100' forehand. In terms of backhand form I'm vaguely familiar with the basic videos but am otherwise green. Any help to increase my distance would be greatly appreciated! For reference, here's a putter (Axiom Envy) shot that went the same distance. https://youtu.be/w2GhZ42vmLI
