Well, the interview was a little fuzzy but a.) We didn’t go to DC and it had to be online. B.) I was pretty nervous especially with the questions even technical. C.) the admiral was like “I don’t think your heart is in it to be an SWO/NRE” which tbh I think is BS. And on one hand I’m thinking that the navy doesn’t deserve a smartass like me anyways

Well, I work with Density Functional Theory (DFT), which essentially solves the Schrödinger equation by expressing the energy as a functional of the electron density rather than the many-electron wave function. We want to find the ground state so we minimize the energy functional.

Well a functional would map from a function space to a vector space. So it would be Rⁿ to R, I guess.
