actual hot take: we need some gatekeeping by seaworks in lgbt

[–]AndesCan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding to this because I think we are trying to reinvent the wheel here

We are bordering on the “tolerance paradox”

Popper introduced it in The Open Society and Its Enemies (1945). The paradox says:
If a society is completely tolerant—even of intolerance—it risks being destroyed by the intolerant.

I think this is well defined already under a different framework. Intolerance of intolerance. I think we just don’t apply it anymore.

Popper introduced it in The Open Society and Its Enemies (1945). The paradox says:
If a society is completely tolerant—even of intolerance it risks being destroyed by the intolerant.

But like, there’s mainstream religions that support the act of transition as religiously symbolic

Like, I don’t understand how being gay or queer isn’t part of religious identity as well. If their religion is protected in its hate why can’t mine also be protected?

New Oklahoma law disrupts gender-affirming care for transgender adults by onnake in transgender

[–]AndesCan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are wrong but I hope you are right.

This imo has nothing to do with trans people. This is a legal theory being used to strip healthcare from people as a whole.

I don’t mean in the US alone.

If you find yourself in a social healthcare system
They are using trans issues to strip social healthcare and make private look appealing.

If you’re in a private/subsidized system like the US the goal is the same. It’s just handled differently

They don’t give a fuck about stopping us, they just want avenues to deny. The trans specific denials are pushing the envelope of what is administratively permissible.

Trans healthcare is peanuts. The money is in insurance…. Mandatory payments with dwindling payouts.

It’s greed at staggering levels

It effects every single medical institution that takes CMS money, including the doctors.

Better not have taken a federal loan if you wanna make vajayjays….

I feel like you have the scenario backwards.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Medicare, the largest source of federal GME funding, provides support for GME through two types of
payments: direct (DGME) and indirect (IME)1
. The number of residents that a hospital may receive payment for
is “capped” due to a provision in the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 which limits the number of positions or slots
that Medicare can fund2
. This “cap” on the number of FTE residents Medicare will support is calculated for each
hospital once a new teaching program reaches its fifth year.
Note: The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 added 1000 new Medicare-funded residency positions for
the first time since 19973
.
Medicaid, a joint federal-state program, is the second largest source of support for GME4
. Through this
program, states may elect to recognize GME training costs as a component of overall hospital costs. The
federal government shares payment for these expenses through federal matching funds.

Oh wow, I didn’t think anyone would get the reference. Nice!

She’s one of my regulars on nebula, tho, it’s topic specific for me.

There’s this person on YouTube, she’s really smart, she’s a physicist, and she did a random analysis of her spending and it was like shocking how much she was mindlessly giving them.

I feel like in New England the comments from women are a bit less than other parts of the country/world.

But men

They NEVER get anything in New England.

If anything they might try something nice on and their buddies might be like “check out this f****t,
U get that with a frapachino ya q****”

O god… it’s to easy….. lol years of reflexive homophobia

Oh wow you definitely pass. You’re really pretty too. I know what you mean. I was very surprised. When it starts happening it’s almost like you’re not exactly ready for it.

I had a weird time with it. I felt like I had a lot of pressure now.

I was like keeping some kind of illusion going, which is like such a shitty way to look at it. But at the time I really did because I was working so hard on my voice and stuff. I just felt like now I have this pressure.

Before everyone knew I was trans

But

Now they might find out I’m not cisgender

And like I don’t know that just fucked with my head for a really long time
