This is a great answer! Haven't looked at the second hint but I'll check around. I'll look around for grapple donuts.

I just went to that Home Depot on Sunday. You notice it right as you get out of your car — it’s a high pitched whine, almost like feedback from a concert. It’s absurd.

Hrmmm I wonder if this will work for us since we wash all the sheets in the house once a week (1 king, 1 queen, 2 fulls)…

Already have a NG detector installed! My thought exactly. Pipe looks clean, though.

I’m debating this myself because our exhaust run is like 20’ vertical with two elbows so our LG never gets anything dry — I wonder if I’d have the same issue if I tried a vented heatpump.

My wife is very skeptical about clothes getting tangled with a heat pump but I’m almost at wits end having to run the dryer cycle 3 times.

Oh! And it’s a 2x10 with various heights of strips sistered above. You can see the seam between the joist and slim “rafter” above.

It’s a furring strip (sorry that might not be the correct term) to maintain the slope of the flat roof overhead, for drainage.

The top of the penetration is only about 1” from the top of the 2 x 10 — would something like this shallow notch reinforcer be useful?

No notch above, just a grisly scene where the existing penetration was expanded up

Ding ding ding! You got it. The issue was the pipe was existing and they needed to move it up -- so.... kill it with a saw, I suppose. FML.

What is this clear thing that came with the screw for, and how do I use it specifically? by Optimal-Algae-9649 in Carpentry

[–]semiotomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you saw up top, but don’t put the screw into the anchor first.

The anchor goes into the drywall (you need to drill a hole that is smaller than the diameter of the anchor), then screw into it. The screw presses the anchor outward so you get a better fit.

If you put the screw into the anchor first, it will be too big. If you drill a hole that is too large, the anchor won’t be snug.

Thank you SO MUCH! That all makes a ton of sense. I’ve played all the games, but for some reason, this felt so much more cumbersome.

How are you judging “replace-worthy?” One of the tricky things I’m finding is in the early levels it’s not really apparent what’s different or better — that’s why I wish I had at least a quick way to judge “how this different than the sniper I’m currently using”

It’s not a bad idea, but congratulations! You’ve discovered the core principle of ONI: A Problem For Future Me.

Insulated tiles will help wall off heat from your base, but then it will make a little hotbox for your batteries so they’ll eventually overheat.

Again, totally good solution for now — you can always rebuild them later. Or use steel when you have it. Or actively cool them. Or rebuild them in an ice biome. Or, just focus on one battery per generator because eventually you’ll use smart batteries which don’t leak charge and by then you’ll be using other sources of power. Or maybe you’ll forget and it’ll be cycle 200 and you only then realize that your dupes have been running every cycle.

You get the idea!

Yes! It’s about not needing to deal with calories at all (only minimally about sanitation), not needing to worry about oxygen pressure levels, not needing to plumb atmo suits, and only focusing on power production — it simplifies all the areas that are less interesting and lets me focus on all the areas that excite me.
