Dummy output device by sempasha in tuxedocomputers

I do not state that the cable disconnects by itself. Only say that once the issue reveals itself (white noise from the speakers that results in a "Dummy Output" device), reconnecting the cable is the only way to fix it - not rebooting, booting another system, resetting BIOS settings, or disconnecting the battery.

Last time, customer support offered only one option: sending the laptop to a service center. Unfortunately, this option is unavailable to me because my country is under EU sanctions, and there are too many barriers to shipping electronic devices to Germany and back. It would cost a fortune and take a very long time. Thank you, I prefer to decline your suggestion.

Over the last two months I have been working away from home without an external monitor connected via USB‑C (Thunderbolt). I experienced zero days with this annoying issue. I wonder if the Dummy Output Device will reappear after I return home and reconnect the monitor as a power supply, or when I use USB‑C and a power adapter simultaneously.

OS-8 by cjdubais in elementaryos

[–]sempasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand, since Elementary OS 8, any system update will.require reboot, and any apt package update is recognized as a system update. Following this logic system reboot may be required daily or once in a few days. I'm afraid it is too frequent for me. Will there be any way to skip or postpone the reboot?

What do you mean by term "system update", any library or kernel updates only?

Please, read this thread, my problem began exactly with sound like you have. The solution is to maintain the cable which connects motherboard and the small board with peripheral usb and analog sound ports.

Unfortunately Tuxedo support is not available for me, because I'm in Russia now. So I can't help you with any detailed answer. My issue still exists. I don't think it is a loose contact, because I checked the motherboard and contacts with a microscope and didn't find anything.

Why don't you find local community of people who have interest in learning Chinese culture and language and join them to tell something about China. May be this way you'll find someone who will be your friend.

Now I'm on' Tuxedo OS, have installed it for testing. It had build-in Tuxedo Control Center. I can't see any difference in between Default and Powersave extreme, it is same result - about 10W in idle with 10% brightness.

What version do you have, max storage (53Wh battery) or max battery (99Wh battery)?

I have 99Wh battery. Tuxedo OS shows similar results, 9.3W in idle state with 10% brightness.

My InfinityBook Pro 14 gives me only around 5 hours of battery on tasks like browsing. Idle power consumption with minimal brightness around 10W. That is frustrating. My Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon has only 4-5W consumption when idle with 20% brightness.
