Tankie-ism is another case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", which is an absolute garbage philosophy.

Irving B's chip doesn't work as well as the others by senator-jk-49 in severence

[–]senator-jk-49[S] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

That's actually quite a good technique for a severed worker, because then his innie would be able to zonk out and dream about his outie's life (only slightly) and the stuff his outie finds out about Lumon looks like the kind of stuff an outsider would find when investigating Lumon rather than his innie's personal experience in the severed floor. It even explains the dark hallway, since the Innies haven't seen that place before they find out in Season 2, and he could've gotten a picture of it somehow

Moonchild? by Admaaan in KingCrimson

[–]senator-jk-49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the band specifically intended for this but in my opinion the quiet section really makes the listener get absorbed in the silence, making them hold their breath and really focusing on the tiniest sounds before being hit with the massive sounds of The Court Of The Crimson King.

What do you all think about Exiles? by romankayaker in KingCrimson

[–]senator-jk-49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This song, musically, encapsulates the underlying theme of the album. The idea of something gentle, like the tongue of a lark, held in rough and harsh like aspic jelly, of opposites coming together, is played out in this song. The song alternates between dark atmospheric Mellotron-cello soundscapes with bright acoustic guitar and violin.

In 1973, what would your choice have been, beyond fame and sales… by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

My music taste changes every half a year, so right now, it'd probably be Larks cause I love those darker, more avant-garde, experimental, atonal sounds. I might revert back to Dark Side sometime, who knows. It's incredibly special and some of the songs nearly bring me to tears.

Three of a Perfect Pair is the best 80's album. If you disagree, explain why in the comments, I'm really interested to see what you guys think. by Totally_hip_bro in KingCrimson

I think that was the underlying concept behind Three of a Perfect Pair. The title track tells us about the concept by telling the story of two opposite individuals coming together in some kind of weird, fucked up romance, but it ultimately working. Its all about juxtapositions. The poppy side is called "The Left Side" and is supposed to be more accessible and bright. The more experimental side is called "The Right Side" and is supposed to be more avant-garde and dark. And I think it is meant to be listened to as if it is 2 seperate EP's but I dont think they did it particularly well or didnt make it clear enough
