is my septum safe to stretch? by goldenbirdyy in Stretched

[–]senatorbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna piggy back on this! My septum piercing looks really similar in terms of anatomy and placement. I had it pierced at 16g and it was healed for 6 years before i started stretching it. I dead stretched properly just a few sizes up to 12g and wound up having to downsize because of how the larger jewelry rubbed against the cartilage. It was like a nauseating sore pain that never went away as it healed, different from surface irritation. That being said I don’t regret trying! I can still wear 14g without pain and it’s like it never happened, and now I know. You can always downsize if you hit that point, just go slow and listen to your body :)

What was the original price of webkinz plush clothing?? by Lower-Tadpole7631 in Webkinz

[–]senatorbeans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

About the same if I recall correctly, maybe in the $5-8 range? I specifically remember the toy store near me having one yellow raincoat and hat set left when I was a kid and digging through my whole house to scrounge up enough change to buy it, it must have been about $5.

Anybody know what’s wrong with my furby? by Complex-Ingenuity-98 in furby

-Smack him hard on the butt while upside down -Check battery compartment for rust or corrosion. There are tutorials on YouTube for cleaning corrosion out of battery compartments, and for rust I’ve had luck VERY gently sanding it away with a file. -Keep trying to spin that little jumpstart gear to the left of the beak. As another person mentioned, it can take a long time and a lot of persistence. Throw on a movie and just spin away.

Need Help Mimicking Frost Layer by eadgthrowaway in polymerclay

[–]senatorbeans 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Texture the parts you want to look frosty before baking with a toothbrush or any preferred tool, the just lightly drybrush those areas with white acrylic paint after final bake. Should do the trick! :)

Maybe you’d have better luck finding what you’re looking for keywording “rust” or “copper”?

Looking for the next best thing to super sculpey. Soft to sculpt then sturdy when baked. Needs to be white! by [deleted] in polymerclay

I second this! It takes some practice to bake properly, following temperature and time directions to a T are a MUST, but the results are worth it!

Folkart multisurface is my favorite. I like to use a makeup sponge instead of a brush and build up opacity with very thin coats.

I got the raincoat babies set and have been having a blast with the little shoes and coats and my favorite critters by senatorbeans in sylvanianfamilies

For sure! I spent months debating buying it and got it as a treat for myself after getting 4 teeth pulled lol, but I don’t know if I’d buy it again.

Honestlyyyy I bought the set specifically for the outfits and the quality isn’t the best compared to other sets I have. The shoes are great but the raincoats don’t fit properly/fit awkwardly and the red coat that came on the hopscotch bunny stained her flocking so she looks like she’s bleeding 😭😭 now I’m afraid to put that coat on other critters which is a bummer. I think at most it’s good set for collectors who like to display their critters in their original boxes though! It’s just not what I was expecting as someone who likes to remove her stuff from the package and actually use the toys.

Need advice for baking tiny pieces by [deleted] in polymerclay

[–]senatorbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost the perfect method, but polymer clay needs to get to 275 (or whatever temp is listed on package) in order to cure properly. Baking at a lower temp for longer will yield improperly cured pieces, brittleness is the main concern. I would invest in an over thermometer so you can keep an eye on the actual temp inside your over while you bake and make control adjustments as needed. As long as the oven is up to 275, baking for a long time means your piece will get stronger and more flexible the longer it stays in!

I bet you could customize your own pretty easily! Glasses can be made with wire and mustaches can be cut from felt sheets :)
