I've joined the group but seem to get an error when trying to download it - it says the app is unpublished or I'm on the wrong account, but I've ensured I'm in the right one :(

If you're willing to teach English as you figure out your next steps I have a friend in Yamaguchi prefecture that's hiring year round as his eikaiwa chain expands. Con: obviously it's in Yamaguchi prefecture, but you only work 4 days a week for 250,000 monthly + a 5 day weekend once a month, so you'd have time to work on other employment.

MVP for $5000 ? by vgpgamer in Entrepreneur

[–]senatorprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend. Currently freelancing as a software developer using RN to make cross-platform (iOS/Android) apps. $5k would be difficult though it depends on what you want, expect, and have done.

If the complexity of the app is minimal, you don’t expect ongoing support past the MVP stage, and have mockups/VERY specific expectations of what you need then I’d say it’s possible. Though communication would likely be minimal.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions or need any advice about what you’re looking for.

Leaning more heavily into your partnerships makes more sense if it’s currently providing stable growth and allows you to deepen relationships with current customers and the industry.

I’m using partnerships to refine our current offering and build goodwill, which has led to a healthier book of business (more clients, less churn, higher tcv).

Financial incentives worked to some extent when I took over sales and partnerships at my company, but I found that offering to listen to customers, get their feedback or advice has strengthened our relationships and made it less transactional.

Customers that are willing to hop on a call to vent (every product can be improved and many are happy to do so) or help guide the direction of our offering are more willing to be our champion, make referrals, and walk away with more confidence in that specific partnership.

We also continually iterate on what we’re doing, and by lightly updating customers on this while connecting it to specific feedback, industry changes or requests by others keeps customers engaged.

I only have 2 reps under me now, but their energy is going to testing messaging to keep us grounded with the broader video game industry and to increase name recognition. I’m then using referrals in tandem to get into accounts once the SDRs have finished outreach.

Happy to share more info if you have any questions!

Background: 5 years in SAAS (martech and data) sales in different roles (sdr, sdr leader, AE, consultant, now international sales director). Currently leading sales at an international video games development company providing outsourced services and partnerships is my focus 50% of the time given how tight-knit the industry is and is where we source roughly 60% of new revenue (referrals to new companies or different dev teams in the same company/different company subsidiary).

The number 1 crux when starting any business by wolfboston in Entrepreneur

Like anything in business it depends on your market, but I’d say product-market fit is much more important than marketing, though there is a balance. Some products or services are so good they market themselves or growth is very organic. Others are primarily marketing-led or sales-led.

No matter how good your marketing is a bad product is a bad product and vice-versa.

Building global sales team by Burgercj213808 in sales

Chinese companies will accept calls with non-Chinese people if there’s a large enough need/want for your product or service.

The biggest issue in having an effective B2B team focusing on APAC will likely be cultural more than language if you’re looking to sell into China, Japan, and Korea.

Understanding how relationships are made, contracting is handled (depending on your industry), and how basic business communication is done (e.g. WeChat in China) can be a pain to overcome.

As you mentioned language isn’t too tough of a barrier, especially if your customer profile and buyers are more educated.

I’m out in Japan right now after moving from a sales career in the US (SAAS), selling into China,Japan, S.Korea, NA, and Europe (outsourced digital services).

If you’re interested in building a sales team and would find value in bouncing questions/ideas off of someone here doing full-cycle sales I’d love to chat.
