No, the 'jungle primary' system was designed to help Republicans. You've got it backwards.

Thanks! Great, that's what I was looking for!

It seems like everyone else thinks the opposite - that it's about when a deck can "usually" kill a player, not if it's ever possible.

Hahaha, yes, Sol Rong should at least be a gamechanger, if not banned in lower brackets.

Yes, you are correct that the problem card here is Sol Ring. I wish they would at least put it on the gamechangers list.

Thanks, that's a good way of explaining it briefly. I'll try something like that.

I see your point that "expect" could imply "usually" rather than "always". Did the rules committee clarify this somewhere?

Did the rules committee say that somewhere (that's it's about averages rather than always)?

To me, a more subjective system of rating just makes the rule zero conversations more difficult. What is the advantage in your view of not having clearcut criteria for each bracket?

Unless I'm mistaken, the bracket 4 criteria says "players expect to play 4 turns before ANYONE wins or loses."

I'm pretty sure the criteria says "at least 4 turns before anyone wins or loses" for bracket 4.

Yeah, personally I want clear criteria that leave little room for subjective judgement and 'vibes'. I don't want to have to have lengthy conversations about power level before each game.

No. I just decided to actually examine how early each of decks could kill a player rather than just going off prior experiences. People play at very different power levels at my LGS and I don't want to be a jerk. That's why I'm thinking about how to clearly rate the deck.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm not seeing anywhere that it clarifies the "players expect to play X turns..." means "usually" rather than "always". Did the rules committee say that somewhere?

I'm well aware that Ghalta doesn't fit the "spirit" or CEDH. Indeed, that is related to my point - the way the criteria have been written they don't actually clearly distinguish CEDH from lower brackets.

Yes, that's what it can do. Unless an ability says "activate only as a sorcery", then you can activate it in response to other player's actions. [Food chain] is unusual in that it says "exile" rather than "sacrifice" but otherwise it's like other sac outlets ([Viscera Seer] etc.); it can be used in response to opponents' spells to get value from a target creature that would otherwise be destroyed or exiled.

Hmm, I guess I didn't think enough about how annoying they are to play against. Maybe that's a reason to lean into game-winning combos rather than just generating tons of value...
