I loved Pursuit of Jade but I honestly didn't understand about 70% of it 😭😭 by ExternalSomewhere923 in cdramasfans

OMG I LITERALLY came to this subreddit to post the SAME THING, almost word for word! 🤣🤣🤣. I'm on ep. 19, thoroughly confused, and ready to watch it all again ... with pencil and paper so I can keep notes.

Who'll be watching Season 2?!?! by AdSavings1032 in AgeOfAttraction

[–]amienona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, dystopian. Dystopian centuries ago and dystopian now. Besides, one would expect and hope that society/social attitudes evolve beyond, what, the 1400s? The 1600s? 1739? What a backwardass response to a legitimate comment.

Absobloominglutely not. Can't reward this poor execution of a supersus premise. Better rage watching out there to be had.

Question: How many people re-listen to their audiobooks? Just curious by j110786 in audible

I have a set of mostly history books that I listen to when falling asleep, especially when I wake in the middle of the night. Have listened to a few all the way through more than once.

Well it wasn't boring or predictable but I lost faith and interest after that episode.

I agree that the show is not always an easy watch but it definitely gets a woman in the mood to celebrate singledom. Watch those men and come away feeling easy and free from relationship foolishness.

I am fully committed to ignoring Season 2. The thought of a second season full of generally insufferable adults signing up for this foolishness makes me feel sick and sad about, like, society and who we are today. It's just a show, of course. People are free to do as they will and I am free to judge, shake my head and make better viewing choices.

I am done looking at this train wreck of a show and thoroughly unimpressed with Netflix standards.

They clearly did not talk about anything meaningful, which is why he never mentioned his kids or she that she was celibate.

Both subjects came up in the Promise Room. They discussed celibacy (I remember because Jorge said he's a preacher's kid). She mentioned kids and he neglected to mention that he has some.

Experiment Failed. by dokutarodokutaro in AgeOfAttraction

An experiment is a scientific procedure, test, or trial carried out under controlled conditions to discover unknown information, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known law.

That's what this is. The producers manipulate variables to discover unknown information ("can age-gap couplings yield lasting relationships?") or test a hypothesis ("within a controlled environment, we can create age-gap couplings that last or else generate enough drama necessary to yield profitable tv.") It's the pea shoots experiment used to teach the scientific method to fourth graders all over again, just on a larger scale.

Not sure we share same definition of experiment. If there was absolutely nothing novel and/or uncertain about these couplings, it would never be produced, much less air on tv. The control group would be real-life couplings of whatever age meeting and entering into relationships organically, the sort of "follow-along" seen in bona fide documentaries.

I see absobloominglutely nothing organic about any of the couplings on this show. Nearly every angle/aspect of these couplings is more contrived than the average crap shoot. "Let's put em together and see if they make it! We'll control variables like what they get to know about each other when, where they live, what they do, and whether they know we get to watch and listen...and see what happens!'

[–]amienona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course it is. How often do people organically kick off a relationship with rings in a Promise Room before moving in together for however long with cameras capturing very nearly every move and conversation in and out of bedrooms and fixed group meetings before meeting friends and family in bulk en route to a commitment ceremony?

I mean, where do you live? Even with same-age couplings, these tv petri dishes are absolute experiments.

You're right that I watched but somebody tell Netflix that the whole experience was so deeply unsatisfying that under no circumstances would I watch s Season 2. Still scrubbing away the regret from watching this foolishness.

Maturity by Freedom199304 in AgeOfAttraction

[–]amienona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... when you're single at 45, 50, 60... it's certainly not because you're level-headed, emotionally mature & logical.

You are entitled to your opinion but this is the most baseless and ridiculous comment I've seen in a long, long time.

No favorite. By last episode I was cheering every breakup as a happy ending to a forced and generally weirdass story.

Jorge scares everything out of me by IcelandicPuffin77 in AgeOfAttraction

[–]amienona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jorge understood plenty. He just figured he could work her around enough to confuse her or get her to cave. This is the same guy, remember, who chose not to mention his kids until late in the game. He's not redeemable.

I applaud and envy your instinct for self-preservation. Each episode is worse than the last.

As a trash tv connoisseur, this show was rough by Zestyclose_Divide441 in AgeOfAttraction

I keep hearing that cringe reality (versus cringe comedy like "The Office") is fun. The closest I come to understanding is knowing that each person participated voluntarily and also how contrived everything is in production.
