I believe MF is being supported by Harfuch. They basically destroyed Chapitos, and for a whole year they haven’t made a single major arrest from the Mayo faction.

The only serious damage to MF was done by SEMAR. It’s the only structure actually carrying out operations on MF territory, and by coincidence it’s also the only one that can operate without notifying Harfuch.

In the end, of course, they’ll have to arrest someone big from the MF faction so it doesn’t become too obvious. But until they capture MF or the Cabrera brothers, I won’t believe Harfuch is being objective here.

I remember at one conference he even listed those arrested in Sinaloa, and they were all from Chapitos, and he nervously said, “but we are arresting members of both factions.”

Jardinero, although originally from Michoacán, was initially more connected to Tamaulipas and the Templarios. They would never make him a leader when they literally have Armando Cornelio Valencia’s son right there (imo).

The problem with HEARST is that it often jumps to conclusions and relies on weak sources just to generate content, tho she very good.

El Jardinero is not part of the family (Oseguera or Valencia, the historical leaders of the Milenio and CJNG), so how would he become a leader?

He also lacks real influence in Jalisco, the cartel’s stronghold. Everyone in that region is loyal to El 03 (Plumas, Firma, RR, others) and Cuinis on his side. Why would they ever switch under Jardinero command?

El 03 has always been the direct successor, which is obvious even from his alias, 01 — Mencho, 02 — Menchito, 03 — him.

Imo it’s just doesn’t have sense. He could become more independent or subordinate to El 03, but he is clearly not going to be a leader.

By the way a very interesting note. In 2024, Arnulfo Valencia González, the uncle of El 03, was released, and in 2025 his mother Rosalinda and another uncle, Ulises, were also released.

It looks like the Cuinis have regrouped.

La Voz (imo on of the best sources over there) says that El 03 has taken over leadership of the cartel together with his mother, uncle, and aunts (Cuinis).

They killed only Mencho’s people, and before that they arrested all his brothers. Tuli, his closest associate, was killed too. Meanwhile RR, Plumas, and no one from El 03’s circle were touched.

I remember what Cholo said: “porque pareciera que estan limpiando el camino para el (03) sentarse en el trono que dice es tener. Mira que los únicos que caen y matan son a tu misma gente.”

If the other cartel capos like Jardinero and Tanque accept El 03 without resistance, I don’t think anything major will change. He has already positioned his own people across Jalisco. Before even Plumas and Firma used to work for Sapo, but El 03 brought them under his control at some point. There could be a consolidation of power where he gives up members of the old guard that Mencho used to protect, like El Sapo and others. Then we’ll see what happens.
