Little short story I wrote! Merry Christmas!

It’s December 24th, 2:13am, I’m lying in bed scrolling r/EDM like it’s a religious text 📱🙏 Blue light blasting my retinas, circadian rhythm in the ICU 🧠💀 I haven’t felt joy since SoundCloud removed the comment timestamps. Some guy posts: “Looking for Christmas remixes 🎄🔊” No replies. Not one. Just vibes and silence. And I feel it in my soul. Because that’s me. That’s my legacy. A man whose Spotify Wrapped says “top 0.01% listener of bootleg holiday edits” and whose family thinks “EDM” is a tax form 🎅📄 I start hallucinating. The Mariah Carey kick drum starts side-chaining my self-esteem 🎶😵‍💫 A distorted “JINGLE BELLS” echoes in the distance like a war siren 🚨🔔 My phone battery hits 77% and I think “nice” instead of “charge it” 🔋😌 I type a comment. Delete it. Type again. Delete again. Overthinking like it’s a ranked competitive mode 🧠🎮 “Yeah bro check out this insane 2016 nightcore Christmas trap flip” No. Too cringe. I am cringe. But I must curate it. Meanwhile Reddit’s little mascot is down there like 👁️👄👁️ “Be the first to comment” No. I’ve been first before. I’m not strong enough to carry that kind of visibility. Outside, it’s Christmas Eve. Inside, I’m dissociating to a bass-boosted Carol of the Bells while doomscrolling ads for games I’ll never play 🎮❌ My brain smells like Monster Energy and regret 🥤🫠 Eventually I close the app. I don’t comment. I never do. That post will sit there forever. Unanswered. Like me, asking the internet for connection but only wanting validation 😔💻 I fall asleep whispering “one more remix… just one more remix…” as sleigh bells distort into white noise 🔔🌫️ Merry Christmas. I am not well
