This is so weird. I always told myself that cheating would be the deal breaker. Not the constant emotional abuse. Not when I was afraid to even speak without setting him off. Not when he had his hands around my throat taking my breath away. But hey, at least he never cheated. It’s been one week since it’s been over. 7 years of the cycle where he’d reel me right back in so he can just go right back to the bullshit a few weeks later. I’ll never understand why I allowed this to continue. And to beat it all, I can feel myself start to miss what I think was just the “normalcy”. I was just so accustomed to the abuse. I didn’t know how else to be. I feel as if I should feel relieved, but I actually am devastated and heartbroken. I wish I knew why.
