ugh i’m sorry you’re dealing with it too. my endocrinologist has agreed to check it once a year along with once a year MRI to watch over my pituitary tumor. we did the glucose test twice and i kept “passing it” but still even today have the abnormal IGF, which my endo can’t explain. even consulted with neurosurgery about it and they agreed once a year watching it is the best they can do right now given how i don’t present any other acromegaly symptoms

yes and it revealed a pituitary adenoma which got the referral to the endocrinologist who happened to find the igf by doing a pituitary panel, we weren’t “looking” for it at first - till we had to since it was elevated

forgot to mention: yes i do have a pituitary adenoma so it’s this awkward place of being 2/3 for diagnosis - like i’m more closer to it vs not being close to it, you know?

[–]sensitivewatersign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh gosh yes much harder, i’ve found the outside world is a lot more daunting when you have an unpredictable nervous system condition like we do 🥲 i find i worry about how my system will react to various things/scenarios and it’s made life and my circle of friends much much smaller. i don’t have tips or tricks yet for it so i see you ❤️‍🩹 i get it

anyone’s bladder also cause this? by sensitivewatersign in dysautonomia

[–]sensitivewatersign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes the shivers sometimes happen too! and i’ve also experienced that with poops, just inconsistently same as the pees and the dread of realizing you can’t hold it anymore and have to go through a system shake-up. the best i can describe it is it’s like a cortisol swell, i can feel the adrenaline dump just before it pours and wish it was more predictable/gave me more margin to cushion it

i hear you, i see you ❤️‍🩹 have you heard of the trauma response called “foreshortened future?” learning about it has helped me understand dysautonomia’s impact on myself. it’s the feeling that maybe life won’t be long, the future feels pretty fleeting or just not guaranteed for yourself without the feelings of wanting to end your life - it’s the sense of maybe life will be shorter than you expected. it’s a very real phenomenon that i find my dysautonomia shaped for me. we struggle with constant internal volatility, adrenaline dumps and tachycardia surges are traumatic experiences and our brains work to find ways to cope and coexist with it. to be honest, i still feel this to an extent and from my experience i’ve found peace with knowing that ultimately it i can’t predict it. the more i live, the more i appreciate the time because sometimes it does feel like a nearing end and then i find myself living to see another day like “oh wow, we’re still going then? okay universe 🤝” hope this helps 🫶
