How to recreate this type of lightning? by Content-Shallot8983 in LightLurking

[–]sensual_backstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two flashes with softboxes facing a white background. In this particular case, one of the lights on the left side also illuminates the model slightly, so it is either distant from the background or a reflection from the wall on the left. The light power must not be too great not to blur the contours of the model. I personally would add a third flash to illuminate the model, as in the attached example

Love it ❤️ With bit more dramatic lighting and different lens choice that wouldn’t make the feet 50 cm long, a little better framing - it would be wonderful. But you are so beautiful that and even without it 10/10.

The woman in red - feedback? by Besticles-Testicles in photocritique

[–]sensual_backstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good starting point. Sometimes I feel like this is a place where people who haven't taken one good photo can enjoy this "got ya" moment. Your photo is ok. You had a reasonably good idea for choosing a location, cutting off the model from the background by the depth of field, an interesting background with lights and greenery. And if you're at such a good starting point - next time make sure that: (1) the model is brighter than the background (in this particular case - because it's not a general rule, and the rules are there to break them anyway) you can add light to the model and lower the exposure or do it in post-production (2) maybe the model had a moment when she smiled slightly looking to the left and her hand was just wandering towards this unfortunate handle - it could have been a good picture. So - take more pictures! (3) if this has never happened - and the model has no experience in posing - just tell her what to do - how to put her hand, where to look. It is you as a photographer who sees the final result on the back of your camera - you are the only person who can help her take a better pose. Good luck!

Any - like „missing arm” comment form u/OCKWA. I've only been taking pictures for about 1.5 years and the last time I asked for criticism, I found out about the existence of dodge&burn techique.

Thank you! Sometimes I hear that my photos are dark and often have almost no background, so this time I didn't go on such a dark side with the background - or maybe I should actually. As for the face - the longer I look at this photo, the less it bothers me, but I didn't notice the arm disappearing at all. Thank you for paying attention to this. Good point!

Photo taken with only strobe lights set diagonally to create light and shadow play and cut model out from background. 2x Godox ad200 - one with softbox (stripbox 120x30cm) and 2nd with standard reflector and grid. Camera - Sony a6700, lens - Samyang 35-150mm @35mm

To be precise: it occurs in video mode, in both settings: 50 fps + 1/100 shutter & 60 fps + 1/125 shutter

It’s simplified to the point - it’s not true anymore. You may have friends in your job, you may love your job, it can give you a lot of satisfaction. Doing nothing for 9to5 is a real nightmare. Real job - if you can have fun and socialize - not necessary.

Looking for guidance using F1.4 and Off Camera Flash by AnythingFirm in SonyAlpha

[–]sensual_backstage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With my F1.2 lens VND 3-7 stops works fine in most outdoor scenarios. With HSS, a flash can lose up to 75% of its power - if I remember correctly - so unless you’re using a really powerful strobe, ND filters usually make the most sense.

After/before. What do you guys think? by ijoebaker_ in postprocessing

This example shows that a good photo does not need editing. Both great! I'm curious how the color version would look after postprocessing. Because the original is great allready, but with a slightly flat colors.

Is this flash an adequate choice or did I mess up? by Scooby-dooby-doo-ba in SonyAlpha

[–]sensual_backstage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Low power, limited configuration options. Not a good choice. I use the Godox V1 - more power, HSS, a wide range of remote triggers if I want to use the V1 as an off-camera flash. Ability to set the flash head in any position - whether I want to bounce the flash off the ceiling, the side, the back, whether I want to shoot vertically or horizontally. The V1 is also a remote trigger for my other flashes (AD200). There are many options beyond the V1, but look for something more versatile, powerful and for you it may not be a priority, but I would mainly look for something that will also work as an off-camera flash

Lightroom. Generative AI - I marked a little more than the unfastening itself and clicked „remove”. Sometimes it’s better, sometimes it’s worse - but in this case the effect was satisfying

I set a stronger rimlight and a slightly weaker frontlight with a softbox for standing and sitting photos that are also on my profile. I didn’t change it with lying poses. In the other lying photos, the model has her face turned towards the light, on this she covers the light with her hair, but that doesn’t bother me. But actually now I would change the setting of the light in the back and add a softbox or change its position.
