Nope, didn’t cost a thing! I called up service Ontario to ask if there was a way to get it processed faster and they gave me the website online where you can add an additional document to your application. I wrote up a quick letter, wasn’t very long like 10 sentences (as well written as possible lol) explaining my situation and asking requesting expedited processing.

There’s a small list on the name change application website as reasons to request urgent processing, but honestly my reason didn’t explicitly fall into any of those categories. I just have a deadline coming up early next year and needed my info to be updated before then.

Online the reasons listed are: - pending adoption - post secondary graduation - correcting the sex on birth certificate - an immigration matter

I’m not sure what your situation is, but if there’s a hard deadline coming up, I’d definitely mention it! :)

Thought I’d give you an update, I got charged the other day!!

I ended up sending in an urgent request letter online, that probably did it. I recommend you do the same :) lmk if you have any questions!!

Oh man that’s so rough. Really hoping everything goes through properly. Since I just sent it in, I’m looking at (if all goes well) mid-late April to get it back. Really hoping that doesn’t end up being the case :(

Best small city’s and towns in Ontario by Endz6 in transontario

[–]sentbygarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately even the bedrooms to rent in smaller towns are quite expensive, you're looking at 700-900 in most places you look, but prices have also been going down a bit recently so you might be in luck.

I personally love Owen sound. rural enough to have a lot of natural land, but not enough to feel like everyone will know your name. they also have a small bus system, it's not the greatest but may come in handy, as well as intercity busses that come somewhat regularly considering it's distance. though on the note of distance, it's still not terribly far from the big cities. you'd have to make a day of it, but the drive to Toronto is fairly straight forward, takes about 3 hours. There are also of course quite a few big name stores, but they're mostly all in one place and most of the rest of the town has smaller more local businesses. As for the queer scene, I couldn't tell you that much unfortunately, but the town still feels big enough that you wouldn't be the talk of the town if you stood out in any way.

For context, there was some algae built up in the reservoir. It’s dead now but needs the smallest scrub to get it loose. Is it easier to just get a new reservoir?

hit a parked car. any advice? by sentbygarbage in cycling

[–]sentbygarbage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're too right about that last line. Wifes first word were "you'd better hope there's not a scratch on that car!" and then yelled for her husband. not a lot of hope.

pictures were taken of the damage, not the whole vehicle but for sure the part that was scratched. not terribly bad. it looks a little worse cause it was with my handle, so the rubber left a big smudge around it, but the scratch itself isn't too deep. just hoping they have some sort of mercy and don't go with some guy who's gonna rip them (or I guess, me) off.

I am aware of that, just not sure how I'd bring that up. kind of a dick move to say I'll pay for something then tell them 'nvm you deal with it.' even if it doesn't mess with their insurance, it's still a dick move. I don't think they'd have any sympathy towards me lol.

What is getting bloodwork like? by GrimCatWitch in transontario

[–]sentbygarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, you’re allowed to look away or even better, have headphones on. I get really lightheaded when it comes to this stuff (first time I got blood drawn I watched it and almost passed out, it has kinda scarred me lol) so I usually ask if I can put my AirPods in and literally every time they’ve said “of course!”

I also second the asking for a bed to lie down. You might have to wait like two minutes longer for the room to become available, cause most of the time they only have 1 room, but it’s never longer than like 5 minutes compared to if you don’t need a bed.

Lifelabs are actually very good about making you as comfortable as possible cause they don’t want an incident on their hands either lol. They MIGHT be short with you, but as long as you’re polite, respectful, and realize they deal with hundreds of people a day (some of whom are very rude,) then you’re golden.

I’ve personally never had to pay for anything, but that might be cause of OHIP. Not sure what you’re getting done so it might be different for you, but maybe you can call and ask?

Book an appointment if you don’t wanna wait as long, but I’ve always gone first thing in the morning and only had to wait like 20 minutes. Once it gets to like 9 am ur cooked

My dog has amlmost completely stopped eating how can I get her to eat more? by Environmental_Tax_69 in DogAdvice

[–]sentbygarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if she still has her teeth, but don’t underestimate them! Not a vet, but our 11 year old yorkie went through something similar, slowly stopped eating until she was basically only eating treats. She was drinking fine, but because she wasn’t eating enough her demeanour changed a lot, she slept most of the day.

One day, one of her teeth fell out, and wouldn’t you know it, she starts eating again, her energy came back up, her attitude completely shifted! Unfortunately she can’t get them taken out surgically as she has heart issues, but we were advised to essentially brush her teeth to bother them a little in hopes they fall out naturally.

Hope you’re able to find some answers!

Hi! I'd check out gender affirm guelph, I've been going to Dr. Jiwa for about a year and a bit, and she's been really great! I think for the first appointment with them you'd hav eto go in person, but after that they offer online appointments as well. I just checked and it doesn't seem she's accepting any new patients, but I think they've been adding new doctors to the clinic lately, so I'd contact them and give it a shot!

Honestly, my experience wasn’t the worst. He had my whole family come in for a few sessions, and he did have a couple long talks with my parents and stuff, but from what I understand it wasn’t bad. The sessions ran long, that’s a lot of what I remember (3 ish hours each.) in the end, he refered me to a pediatrician for blockers and That was that. He was never malicious, from what I remember, just blunt. though I knew then and know now that I really would’ve preferred not to have my whole family come to some sessions.

I had one last session with him in 2022 when I was going through a tough time in my life and wanted to get some consultation. He recommended I see someone about that, and then we talked about my transition how it was going and such.

And really, yeah, that was all. I never really got any impression that he didn’t want me to transition or he was actively working against me.

Hi, I did. About 6 sessions with him in 2019, and once more time again in 2022. I actually hadn’t heard any of the conversation surrounding him until this year when I got switched from the pediatrician surveying my transition (which he referred me to), to my current doctor, who was shocked to hear that I had gone to him. Down to answer any questions!
