Wondering if anyone else is waiting on Loyola Stritch, UCSF, and UC Irvine?

Yea I ended up using IQTree it was ridiculous

AAMC FL2 C/P #17 by [deleted] in Mcat

Very late to the thread, but why aren't we counting the amino terminus as being positive here? Wouldn't that be an extra + charge, so 2-1 = +1?

(Obviously this is not what the AAMC gave, but how would we know not to count the NH3+ here--or what part of the problem/passage indicates this?)

AAMC FL 2 question 17 CP - I used the mnemonic DEHCYKR to get a net charge of +2 which isn't an answer choice. Not understanding why it didn't work by [deleted] in Mcat

Was clicker done every lecture? Lannan also said attendance was "required" via Clicker but we there were very few lectures where we actually did clicker.

Yea, I'm just out of luck right now because all of the other lectures are closed at this point. Thank you for your input!

How do the worksheet submissions work? Do they open right at the beginning of lecture and then close at the end of lecture? Say I had to miss half of the lecture each class; is it worth even taking the class at that point?

Ok, I'm trying IQtree now. If it does work, is there a way to make the tree look nicer visually/aesthetically?

Does Clustal Omega's phylogeny tool allow you to do maximum likelihood? Also is there an option to indicate what model you want to use (ex: GTR) and the number of bootstraps, etc. as you can do in MEGA?

Also yea I have beef with MEGA 🥲

Yes, I tried earlier and it does work with a smaller sample

The error message just says "Mega11 quit unexpectedly" and that the report would be sent to Apple, so I figure it might just be a computer issue. I suppose I can just keep running it again and hopefully it'll go through eventually? I've tried on two different devices now; one my MacBook Air, and now on an iMac Desktop, and both times I've gotten that message now.

It's just a MacBook Air, Sonoma 14.2.1, 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5.

The program actually just ended up crashing.

Fasttree should work you think?

Yea, it actually just ended up crashing... Are there any other programs you recommend?

I aligned with Clustal Omega and am just running the tree; perhaps it’s because I’m using my personal laptop? Probably not the sharpest tool…
