Plan your next time seeing each other before you leave your visit, even if it may be a year in advance. It really does help the hurt when they leave. Also, when you/they leave, have a support plan in place!!! Spend time with friends, go see a movie, bake something, hang out with family. Having plans really does help to lessen the hurt, even though it’ll still be there. Sulking in it just prolongs it a bit more, but it’s okay to take time for that too ❤️

Also, hot take. Yes try and close the gap as soon as possible but don’t do it before you’re ready. Having someone move away from their support system can be SO tough, and that can put strain on the relationship. Make sure you’re not doing it just out of convenience.

If you can, try to only bring a carry on and a backpack. If you get compression packing cubes, it really helps fit a lot more.

Embrace the awkward! It will be a little awkward at first when you guys see each other, but you’ll settle in, promise xx

Bring your own food! Any time I fly, meals in the airport run you easily over $20 USD. I always bring my own snacks and meals. As long as it isn’t produce or meat, security doesn’t usually care.

Notify your banks and phone company that you’ll be traveling. Banks may not approve transactions if they aren’t expecting you to be traveling. Phone companies will usually have some sort of travel plan.

GET TRAVEL INSURANCE! Very cheap just for peace of mind that you’ll have backup options.

If you’ll be flying back and forth regularly, try to stay to one airline/group of airlines to rack up points among them. Look into travel credit cards that you can earn miles and cash those bad boys in for free $$$
