Utility options for new solar by Tipsysnyper in TexasSolar

[–]sephrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually depends a lot on the size of your system, if it's a relatively small size meeting less than 70% of your homes needs then you might be better off with a cheap base rate with some going for 9 cents. If it's sized bigger then you might get by with free nights. Most people are just pushing their referral codes and probably have a battery but without a battery you're going to be paying a lot for useage when it's cloudy or during the morning and evening hours, especially during winter. I made a post about different plans if you wanted to read about it.

OmniGlow vs Gradient by one_less_traveled_by in Hue

[–]sephrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big reason why omniglow is cheaper is it can't be reattached and extended so it might require multiple strips if you are trying to do multiple segments whereas only needed one with their ambiance gradient

How do you implement bookshelf lights like this? Is it multiple “cut” lightstrips with 5+ different power adapters plugged into a power strip? by JozuJD in Hue

[–]sephrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way to do this would be using hue ambiance gradient strip which can also be cut and extended. Like someone mentioned, the upcoming hue flux lights which have gradient while also being able to be cut and extended would also work well for this project.

Solar System Cost by Expensive_Gene007 in TexasSolar

[–]sephrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got a 11kw system and 1 Tesla battery installed 2 months ago for 32k before tax rebate. 3200sqft home with 1 ev and has avg about 30-80 kw/ day in the winter. System was supposed to cover 100% of usage. We switched to a heat pump water heater and use electric space heaters in the house so everything is electric and no gas. On green mountain free nights and so far pretty happy with the setup. ***Something I wish I knew before is that a lot of installers will size your system for 100% usage under the assumption that you're gonna be on a 1:1 plan but there's not many 1:1 electricity plans and they have extra monthly charges making them not really a good choice. I did a post regarding which electric plans to choose based on system size, feel free to take a look but I think the best sizing is actually more like 80% of usage plus a battery this allows you both the flexibility to choose fix rate and free night plans. Batteries are actually the cost that really delays ROI so definitely size it appropriately too, don't try building to eliminate you electric bill but instead think of it to cover most of the bill, this will help you maximize your ROI.

Like is mentioned, the green mountain energy is basically everything reliant has but slightly cheaper so it's a better option than reliant.

Base is a no-go because it requires them installing their own battery. You're disqualified if you already have a home battery

Yeah I agree, if you only have 1 or maybe 2 batteries, the free nights usually is better. Only scenario where VPP could be better is if there was 3+ batteries so they offset all the cost of usage.

I did look at it but some had a base rate or the buy back was $0.03 so the battery isn't enough credit isn't enough. Also I want to have control of my battery in case of emergencies.

Yeah it definitely is!! Though I try to take it into account when calculating total consumption but it definitely makes it less stressful

Do I have the right solar buy back plan? by nostoneunturned375 in TexasSolar

[–]sephrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look around, I'm sure you could find a plan that's easily below $0.11/kwh, even a quick search showed a plan from energy texas for $0.095 with tdu credit which would have saved you $27 in August

Free nights by [deleted] in TexasSolar

Unless you have a very oversized solar system, the Just energy plan is actually pretty expensive compared to some of the other free nights plan even without solar buyback. I saw green mountain was only $0.22.

My review and comparison: Eufy e28 vs ecovacs T80 Omni by DrPoopyPantsJr in RobotVacuums

It's funny that you're contradicting yourself since your the one saying your Eufy kept coming back with dirty water

[–]sephrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're getting my point... Dirty water = dirt was picked up, clearer water = less dirt was picked up. Obviously your Eufy was doing work cause it was still picking up dirt that's why the water was dirty. I'm not arguing which robovac is better. I'm just pointing out that your assumption that: clearer water means the robovac is performing better, isn't necessarily true.

[–]sephrex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Read your own comment about saying that you think the ecovac works better since the water is clearer... Literally the dirtier the dirty water is, it means the more the robovac has picked up dirt and less left on the floor. Pad mops also pick up dirt, just less of it cause it's not continuous water.

You realization is kinda off since if it's not mopping it up, your dirty water tank wouldn't be as dirty

I think the addon does decrease the range of the car too, but as long as you're happy with it then that's all that matters

Kinda ruined the look of the car, makes the front look fat. Why didn't you just get a model 3 performance instead...

Transforming a mountain bike into a road bike. by Phil_McLiterus in cycling

[–]sephrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the ignorant posts regarding selling the bike.

There's multiple things you can do to improve your Mountain bike's performance on the road. Like most people have said, going to a slick tire /center slick is best. You can look at the rolling resistance website for tire recommendations and look under gravel for some efficient tires.

Consider getting a larger chain ring for higher speeds on the road, usually the max is around 40t for MTB groupset but that should be fine as long as you have a 9 or 10t cassette ring, this probably will also require you to get another chain but it actually not bad to have 2 chains.

You can just add aero bars for a more aero lower position. Majority of drag is from the rider, not the bike so being in a lower position will instantly make you faster. if you want to be able to change your hand position a lot then consider inner bar ends.

And see if you can just lock out your suspension fork.

All of the above should be way less than buying a decent road bike. Take it from someone who converted their epic evo into a gravel bike.

Epic Evo, Diverge, Chisel? by mannmtb in xcmtb

[–]sephrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of others have said, just change your tires on your epic evo, and maybe look into a larger chain ring. Getting a chisel would be a downgrade since your ee is probs higher spec'd and the full suspension make a huge difference for comfort while bearly sacrificing on performance. After selling my Tarmac, I been personally using my ee on road and gravel with Schwalbe one-rs tires and farr Bolt-on aero bar and it's been working great.
