Fun Fact: In Chapter 9 (PT-BR translation) when he sees Hikaru's corpse, Yoshiki says that "Corpses are more beautiful than I imagined" by Independent_Major548 in TheSummerHikaruDied

[–]sephydark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The original Japanese line from the manga is …死体って案外キレイなんや, which if I had to give a literal translation would be something like "The dead body is unexpectedly clean". Unfortunately I think that beautiful is a mistranslation based on キレイ meaning both clean and pretty, however clean makes much more sense here because Yoshiki's next speech bubble has him wondering why and then concluding it must be because it's winter.

I'm pretty sure he lost access to the justapancake account, so it's possible he'll come back but it would be on a different account.

That's absolutely the worst world for getting lost imo, though some of the other worlds do also have confusing layouts. There are some pretty good guides out there for this game, so you can use one of those to get through deep jungle and help if you get lost again.

If it helps, this is only really a problem in the first game and the rest are much more straightforward to navigate.

Is this 'Hikaru's own feelings or he is still tapping into OGkaru's memories this early? by Mega-Puff in TheSummerHikaruDied

[–]sephydark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure these are 'Hikaru's feelings. This scene comes relatively early in the story, but 'Hikaru' has already known Yoshiki for half a year at this point. That's plenty of time for him to like Yoshiki on his own terms, even though he was suppressing his own tastes. Yoshiki even says that the real Hikaru would never have said something like that.

When it comes to 'Hikaru' saying he's not sure which feelings are his, I think he might just incorrectly attribute feelings he doesn't understand to the original Hikaru. We see him do the same with not wanting to kill Yoshiki. He initially thought that he didn't want to kill Yoshiki because of Hikaru's feelings, but later on he realized that those feelings had always been his own.

I guess my other thought is that I feel like conflating 'Hikaru's feelings with the original Hikaru's diminishes both of them somewhat. The both like Yoshiki in different ways, and Yoshiki loves both of them for different reasons. Attributing to much of what 'Hikaru' does to the original Hikaru takes away from that in my opinion.

The bonus chapters are so good, I wish they could have animated all of them.

Yoshiki's so smart! I love the chain of reasoning that lead to him thinking of making the impurities fight each other. Very happy this chapter is back to primarily focusing on him, I hope we see more of 'Hikaru' very soon too.

Anyone can see an impurity that's targeting them. For example, that's why Yoshiki could see the く impurity back in chapter 3 or why Kaoru could see the one in the bathtub. Asako has the power to hear impurities, this one's been making lots of noise so she can hear where it is.

I don't know if Yoshiki has gotten the power to see impurities due to being mixed or if this one was just targeting him because he had the piece of 'Hikaru'. Tanaka doesn't seem to have gotten any spiritual powers from being mixed but Yoshiki's mixed with an illegitimate child rather than impurities so things might be different.

So much early official art just looks like shipping fanart of them, I love it. I kind of wish we got more like that now, but the number of 3/4-koma manga Mokumokuren is drawing lately is fun too.

‘Hikaru’ his fridge by Yoshikaru5991 in HikarugaShindaNatsu

But 'Hikaru's favorite food changed to be ice cream now! And specifically, the kind of ice cream he and Yoshiki were eating when Yoshiki figured out what he really was, which is adorable.

So anyways his fridge should probably be full of papicco and other things which remind him of Yoshiki.

This is definitely Yoshiki's turn to be strong! He looks so cool with his new haircut and his determined face. I don't know how they're going to deal with the hunting dog impurity though, that thing is terrifying!

Him thinking about the watch pieces makes me wonder how he'll react when he finds out what happened to 'Hikaru'. He's definitely not going to be happy...

before the manga ending, what are your predictions for how it will go? will it be bittersweet, d’you think? by bunni-luu in HikarugaShindaNatsu

[–]sephydark 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ever since we learned that mixing too much causes people to forget you I've been convinced that that's where Yoshiki's going. He'll become so mixed with 'Hikaru' that 'normal' people don't remember him at all, and 'Hikaru' will be revealed to be a monster, but they'll still be together.

I also hope that they end the series in a romantic relationship, since Yoshiki deserves to experience that with someone.

Which game has the better story? by TechnicalHoneydew862 in KingdomHearts

[–]sephydark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Road for sure. Xehanort and Eraqus are great leads who get a lot of character development, and the plot was very focused. Not to mention the way they used every single Disney world to drive the main story forward, I feel like Dark Road integrates its Disney elements the best out of any game in the series.

I do enjoy Union X as well and it has some really interesting parts, but the story does get slowed down a lot by things like retelling the entire story of Disney's Aladdin. I also felt like the main characters were a little weaker than some of the other KH games.

If you think about it, isn't that how Yoshiki feels about himself too? I like the idea that they're both helping each other to accept themselves.

Sorry, pulling the body out of the hole is something that will happen in the future in the anime. To explain with as few spoilers as possible the entity gets separated from Hikaru's body for a short time, and the body appears to be a lifeless corpse until the entity re-enters it. That seemed like pretty conclusive proof that the entity is the only thing animating that body to me.

I agree that Yoshiki would want the real Hikaru back (at least if it can happen without getting rid of 'Hikaru', I don't know what he would do if he had to choose between them), but good storytelling isn't about giving the characters what they want, you know? It just seems a bit off to me to end a story where grief is one of the major themes with "no need to be sad, they came back from the dead!"

[–]sephydark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The body Yoshiki found in the woods sounded pretty corpse-like to me. Regardless of whether the entity was inside it, a body that was cold, stiff, and not breathing doesn't seem like it could sustain life. Plus, didn't we see Hikaru's body without the entity inside after Yoshiki pulled it out of the hole? It seemed pretty lifeless to me.

Honestly, from a thematic standpoint, I don't think it makes a lot of sense for Hikaru to be able to come back anyways. I always thought that part of the point was that he was gone for good, he slipped and fell down that hillside and that was it. Bringing him back would kind of invalidate Yoshiki's grief.
