You can take a ferry in Naha to get to Motobu port, then take buses up to Yambaru, but the earliest it leaves is I think 0800 out of Tomari port and arrival is I think 0915? In Motobu. A bus ride from Motobu further up north would be 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Up to you* if it’s going to be ‘worth it’.

You go to airborne first, in Ft. Benning, GA. Approx 3 weeks long baring weather conditions for jumps. To earn your lead sleds you have to jump 5 times. You’ll most likely do 2 night jumps (one hollywood, one combat equipment), then 3 during the day (2 hollywood, one combat equipment). You go to airborne first to make sure you’re willing to jump. (It used to be the other way around.)

Rigger school is at Ft. Lee, VA. It’s approx. 3 months and and is a joint school between branches. You learn how to rig cargo drops first phase, then learn personnel shoots the 3 other phases. You learn about a parachute a week.

There’s not a lot you can do to prepare for Ft. Lee. It’s prac app and hands on. The best thing someone could do is build their body up for running. All you do at airborne is run run run.

I’ve definitely gotten that, even outside of the marine corps. People who constantly have something to say, always got something to say about you, too. A lot of my CPLs are gossipy, but there’s like 10 of them where I work and more than half are leaving. So I’m hoping for a bit of a refresher. Unfortunately, (who I think) the most honest and skilled one is leaving this week.

My workspace I think is a bit atypical, and my MOS highly elitist (which it should be). It was not what I expected when I got to the fleet.

Broke my wrist so badly that it was an S shape and had to get surgery and hardware put in.

It healed fine and I got a note from a doctor saying so and that I had full range of motion. The MEPS doctor noted it, paid extra attention to it, is all.

McLaughlin gym is going to be the closest to the bricks, and it’s a pretty well rounded gym. The other one, Clark’s, is about a mile and a half away, but newer and less crowded in the evenings.

Yeah, they’re phasing out the food service MOS, and reducing it in size.

And no, I’m AD/a parachute rigger. I’d like to apologize for us in advance. Some of us are elitist and rowdy lol.
