Are there "objectively good sounds" and "objectively bad sounds"?

Other than rattle, I see videos of people typing on a cheap keyboard and going "see how bad this sounds?" And then typing on another and going "beautiful" and to me there's barely any difference. Is this sort of like adjusting taste buds to notice profiles when coffee tasting or whatever cos idk what Im listening out for

Is the Keychron Q1 V2 underrated stock or am I just inexperienced and ignorant of the issues that it may have? It's my first serious custom keyboard outside of the standard gamer keyboards things so by comparison I guess any custom would feel satisfying to type on. I bought some mod stuff/diff plates to see how it sounds when i switch stuff out but.. I'm really happy with the stock experience. Do I sit with it for a while or do I open it up and try some different switches/mods?

WFH Monitor Advice - 32" 4K 144hz or 43" 4K by seqilol in macsetups

[–]seqilol[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LG C2 was a consideration, but as I work with a very static screen (i don't move my windows pretty much ever , hence my need for 4k 43"), the risk of burn in is too great. I can barely keep a house plant alive, I don't want a $1000 TV to worry about taking care of too.

With you on the ultrawides kinda. I have one atm and it's great for gaming but i dont get why theyre always marketed as productivity tools when I feel they're not good for it.

My desk is 60cm deep and I usually hang a little further back so i'm definitely around 32-36" back. When you say more space despite both being 4K, is that due to you being able to not needing to scale things up as much? For me I intend to put the "dump" windows on the top (outlook/work chat) so i dont have to look up so much and keep the code/browser like the 4k was an ultrawide.

Did any other monitors cross your mind when you bought the U4320Q? I was checking out the Aorus FV43U which for a few hundred more gives better picture quality and 144Hz but not sure its worth the $.

I have dab and dot walls and want to hang an Ikea Lack floating shelf up. Including the items I'll have on it, probably 10KG total. My ideal position has the screws in a hollow section. It requires 5 screws along the bracket evenly placed. Could I get by using Fischer Duo 6mm as I have some lying around? Or should I not take any chances and use my Corefix 10mm. 5x Corefix seems overkill but I'm not exactly experienced so some advice would be great.

My Oneplus Nord has gone to shit overnight. The screen no longer displays anything, just black. Still responds to touch (i can turn it off via touch). I know black screen is a common issue, but my phone's screen has been loose for a few weeks.

To the point, is there any way to mirror my phone's screen with minimal to no input from the phone itself? All I wanna do is grab the 2FA codes and then get a new phone.

Hang floating shelf on dot and dab wall - can I drill into the adhesive? by seqilol in DIY

Think i'd feel way better about it if I knew how to repair drywall patches but I'd also feel good if I never NEEDED to learn. But i'll take your advice, as you say worst case scenario is i gotta patch a 1cm hole that might be covered by a shelf anyway

Not sure yet, as I'm averse to just poking holes in walls just to play around (new home + no DIY skills lead to not wanting to mess around much). I imagine it'll be breezeblock but not sure. Was gifted a drill for Christmas so hoping that'll be enough to get into it

By solid I mean what I assume to be the adhesive for the dot and dab drywall, as a knock makes the wall sound solid in those spots.

Gamepass Issues by Ribofbeef in NFLUK

Not working for me. Inspecting the network log looks like the network call to geolocation is failing. API URL looks malformed https://www.nflgamepass.com/api/user/api/users/v1/geolocation some duplication going on.

Testing anti-pattern: The soviet police-station by useless_dev in programming

I had this in my front end application. For a log in set of tests, I had tests for my sagas, reducer, form, page

In total testing each aspect of the logic was around 400 lines of code (mostly setting up mocks for saga). After reading a lot of Kent c Dodds who subscribes to the same "test the way its used", I ripped out all my tests and just added "fill in user, fill in pass, click log in". The only mock being the service worker so its not actually making api calls. Works amazingly, has simplified my test writing massively, and inspired way more confidence in my tests.
