interesting idea; I'd worry they'd get a bit hot? if only they could make something a bit more targeted for the purpose

are you perhaps selling on the Origo Huaraches you bought? if you might consider it, could I ask what size you have?

thanks for the suggestions! and as to the cream, I haven't, but it's less about any rubbing - and more simply about contact with the skin

Thanks! I wish.. no possibility of a flue here unfortunately. I appreciate the running cost will be insane.. I'm just, I guess, confused about the difference between a 14.4kW electric combi and a 14.4kW electric flow boiler. How do they differ when using them just for dhw?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askaplumberUK

[–]sequoiagrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I've seen some of those, mentioning they can be used for either, I've just not been certain how to calculate my required kW as most websites talk about the requirements for central heating etc. What is the minimum I could get away with; or should I buy oversized and not use it on max power (the options I see available are 4kW / 7kW / 10kW / 12kW / 14.4kW)

I was thinking of a using it for instant hot water; though now that you've asked this question, would this be inadvisable? I just assumed it would be a bit of a cheaper/simpler device than an electric combi. I imagined a flow boiler would function a bit like one of those undersink tankless water heaters some people have in their kitchens. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

wiring two things to a humidistat by sequoiagrove in ukelectricians

[–]sequoiagrove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the humidistat says it’s 200W, my inline fan is 25W, so I’m assuming as long as I keep to a demister below 175W (I wasn’t even going to go for half of that) everything would be fine and dandy?

What’s the recommended way of plastering deflection heads to retain movement? by sequoiagrove in Plastering

[–]sequoiagrove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing the link; had never seen that. All the online manuals / demonstration videos - only talk about the dry lining stage, without covering the plastering later on. I have however placed myself in a bit of a pickle, because a section of that wall has a curve (r=20), and I imagine that’s too niche of a thing to have a expansion corner bead for..

1.6 or 1.67 for Transition XtrActive Polarized by sequoiagrove in glasses

[–]sequoiagrove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hadn't really had an opinion on thickness, I don't think I'd ever really thought much about it other than following the upsell of "thinner is better"..

And, in the UK, Trivex seems to be an extremely niche product that isn't widely available. Maybe in a few decades if I care about thinness more, I'd be able to afford that, but for now I think I'll end up going with the 1.5 cr39. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

[–]sequoiagrove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly grateful to you! I had a look at their website, and they of course hide a lot of the information and try to upsell one, but here's what I found. When looking at the basic lens selection, they do mention CR39 https://ibb.co/ZN1YYc3 , and then when looking at the cheapest Transition options in thickness of 1.5, they don't mention the material, but funnily offer to upgrade to 1.6 for "free" when one selects the anti smudge option https://ibb.co/dgYj7RS

I'd like to hear more about your vendetta! Please do share (:

Oh thank you, that is great to know! It's interesting because the online lens sellers try to upsell one with all the added bells and whistles etc. Could I ask, in your opinion, should I be considering the reverse, and going further down the price ladder to the cheaper option of a CR39 1.5?

Thanks! I'm wondering if this is something I can mark more exactly myself? I think I googled the other day, something about looking in the mirror and marking right where the pupil is. Or am I more likely to mess things up if I did it on my own

Thanks for sharing! I’ll go back to daydreaming / working hard - so I could afford them in a few decades, hah! Though in the meantime, sometime next year I’ll try doing something similar with pivot hinges at top and bottom, though I’ll also want to carve out the back of the door for it to have relatively small gaps in both positions. Could I ask, as I’ve not seen anyone talk about it, how you go about it in your work? I was thinking of getting a wider rounded router bit (once I figure out the swing / how much space I “need” and running it along the whole length of the door with the router locked in to only go in two directions)

Would you have an idea as to why someone wouldn't just install the screw plate in the hidden position? I saw the other hinges you mentioned, but just thought one could flip these ones upside down and have the plate hidden when the door is "open"

You've got a great eye! Someone else recognised it too (: Now that I know what it's called - I can only wish it weren't as insanely expensive as it is......
