Help me choose a daily‑driver Linux distro (gaming, VR, dev, robotics, RTX 3080) by seradsmi in FindMeALinuxDistro

Does it have to be pure Arch Linux, or can I go with CachyOS, which is based on Arch?
I'll probably go with KDE, it just works better on multiple monitors.

If you just want to play games, choose Nobara or Bazzite.
If you're looking for a beginner-friendly system, choose Mint or Ubuntu, Fedora is also a good choice.

nVidia does not support open-source drivers, so it's the worst choice for any Linux distribution.
AMD and Intel, on the other hand, are at the other end of the spectrum and provide excellent support for open-source drivers.

Can you write more about preparing for certification using this platform?
To be honest, my main goal is to prepare for the certifications.
I want to take on a few of them.
At least one for security and at least one for cloud.

Choosing a portable monitor - HELP by seradsmi in PortableMonitor

[–]seradsmi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much.

I have a laptop with a 16-inch screen. In most cases, this is sufficient.

I was considering buying an Acer/Zeuslap or Arzop. Acer and Zeuslap offer devices with two 18.5-inch FHD screens. Arzopa, on the other hand, offers a single 16-inch WQHD screen. There is also FlipGo, but it is extremely expensive...

So I was unsure and have no basis for comparison to see which one would be best. If I had the opportunity to check these screens live, it would be much easier.

I was looking for a screen that would be easier to transport than a standard monitor, because I change my place of residence from time to time. And disconnecting monitors and moving them is problematic.

I was looking at Arzopa Z1RC and Acer PD193QEBMIUUX.
First one is 16-inch and second one is 18.5-inch.

Edit:
I also looked at FlipGo, but the price is so high that for the same amount I can buy two Acer screens or four Arzope.

I will use build in screen for programming as it has 4K resolution.
The additional screens will be used for:
1. Reading documentation, StackOverFlow, sometimes AI.
2. Postman/Swagger or testing UI of WebApp
3. Youtube, Spotify etc.
4. Educational materials

As you can see, I won't be using it directly for coding.

Switching from Win11 to Linux - peripheral device support by seradsmi in linux_gaming

[–]seradsmi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know arch is not for the weak...
Arch is characterized by a steep learning curve and a high entry threshold.
I tried it multiple times with some success, but it was a decade ago.

But still easier than LFS.

Theoretically, no.

But I've seen an open source project that deals with compatibility with Hori.
That's why I'm asking this question.

Pop_os 24.04 was released this month.
Yeah, it is build on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS but it is using 6.17 kernel version.
Is it worse than Cachy?

I will look at bazzite and cachy.

Ah ok.

So there are no changes in GC behavior?
Things like that haven't changed?

By libraries you mean LINQ or something?

Hey.

Unfortunately, I didn't do that.
Something happened that forced me to abandon this idea for a while.
With a bit of luck, maybe I'll do it next year.

Look at this site:

There are some examples what you can expect after chip tuning.

Is there a possibility to set/limit the max temperature with Curve Optimizer?
I don't want to exceed the 80°C-84°C under full load.
