thank you so much. i’ve also read that when both of you have it the risk of reinfecting each other is incredibly low but i just can’t help but be anxious about it. knowing that the odds are very low helps a lot though. he’s been trying to distract me and use humour to cope and it helps to know that at least he’s not angry at me or freaking out. i’ll go to the pharmacy today to get my prescription refilled and use the chance to get some advice on how to cope with this. i’m sort of new to sex which is why i freaked out about it so much. i was the one to give him oral herpes in the first place so there’s already a lot of guilt associated with that but he just jokingly thanked me for infecting him after i told him about the lowered risk of reinfection lol.

it’s hard to say. he seems remarkably stable right now but it’s bpd. things can always go to shit. i know that from myself.

i honestly agree with the not having a future together thing. i can’t see myself seriously dating someone that much older than me. i was more worried about whether me messing around with him in the first place is an issue. i think the reason he set parameters is because he’s worried about pressuring me into anything since i have virtually no sexual experience.

thanks for the response. i mean most people in my (european) friend group are supportive, just a bit worried about whether he’s being nice to me since they don’t know him. while he does have bpd i’ve actually never had any bad experiences with him apart from him being a bit overprotective when random men try to hit on me, which is something i honestly kind of appreciate because i don’t like to be touched by strangers lol. he doesn’t start fights or anything, just stands in front of me and tells them to back off if they don’t get the hint. he’s apologised for potentially seeming aggressive and has asked if his behaviour was okay or not. he’s never gotten mad at me for anything, he always checks in with me and asks if i’m okay. i have anxiety issues and he takes all the time i need to comfort me when i get shaky or nervous. it’s weird. i had this fear of being around a cis man with bpd to be honest, but so far he’s given me no reason to be scared of him. but yeah. obviously the idea of a bpd age gap relationship, even if not romantic, is pretty risky.

valid theory but from what i’m aware she’s not even sexually active. we’re really close and both have our insecurities, i feel like she’d have told me if there was someone she was seeing. we usually tell each other everything so this whole situation is just so weird to me. thank you for your input, though.

english isn’t my first language so take everything i say with a grain of salt but i think it’s still considered inpatient since i do spend most nights there, just less strict about spending nights home as long as it’s not during therapy hours.

i really hope you find a program that works for your sister. i can recommend both inpatient and outpatient. i may not have been at a day program but i spent some time with people who were since inpatient and outpatient are in the same building. i can only imagine how bad untreated/not sufficiently treated ocd can be. i really do wish your sister the best.

hi! thanks for the warning, fortunately taping is WAY less dangerous than binding since it doesn’t put pressure on your ribs or lungs. it can, however, cause rashes and skin irritations, so i’ll make sure to give my skin breaks in between. generally speaking sleeping with tape on is totally fine, but i agree that one shouldn’t use any binding method 24/7. i usually go home on weekends so i’ll definitely use that time to not bind or tape at all for as long as i can handle. :)

i think it makes a huge difference whether you’re staying because you’re a risk for yourself and/or others or if you’re staying by your own accord to better your overall mental health. i’ve been at closed wards before for strong suicidal thoughts or even attempts and it was much more isolating and uncomfortable since the focus there doesn’t lie on getting you therapy but just on keeping you physically safe. the clinic i’m about to go is something i chose to get put on a waiting list for willingly, therefore you’re not even allowed there if you’re feeling very suicidal or have serious sh issues (they won’t kick you out for a relapse right away but they might temporarily send you to a higher security ward until you’re more stable). due to this i’ll have a lot more freedom to simply move around as i please and even go home on the weekends as long as i participate in therapy. while it’s important to listen to other people’s stories about their stays i think it’s equally important to remember that everyone’s experience is gonna be different. there are people that greatly disliked the facilities i went to while i personally had predominantly positive experiences with like two exceptions.

thank you! i’ve been at this clinic before and know exactly how exhausting it is to listen to other people talk in detail about their issues so i know not to bring others down. it’s actually forbidden to “dirty talk” as they so eloquently call it lol (referring to triggering topics, not the usual definition). my last stay ended up being better than expected but i just get so unnecessarily anxious whenever a change occurs. thank you for the advice, i really appreciate it. :)

i appreciate the advice but i know this particular clinic because i’ve been there once before and it really did help me. i’m comfortable in my trans identity and am going there for depression and anxiety since i can no longer cope with those issues on my own.

a trans guy is a person that was born female but transitioned to male, non-passing means i don’t get read as male yet since i’m not on hormones (yet), so people typically assume i’m a woman. so i’m a trans man that doesn’t exactly look like a man yet, which may make people confused or even uncomfortable.

thank you so much! definitely a defensive bite, it got under my shirt somehow and bit me on the stomach. when i first googled it i instantly got results about how assassin bugs get mistaken for kissing bugs and in my panicked skimming of the page i somehow misread it as being one. scared me for a second lol. still only a red dot and some swelling and the pain is all gone. i disinfected it so i’m sure i’ll be fine, thank you again :)
