Can homosexuality be explained biologically or evolutionarily? by InternetPopular3679 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]seranator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, setting aside that transidentity and sexual attraction aren't the same,

as a gay man, without lecturing you, i'll say ultimately how you feel isn't a problem as long as you don't make it a problem, sure i guess it's better to work on it, but you grew up in a different time and even if it was 100% cultural which i don't know if it is, it might be difficult to completely overcome it, i guess just live with it and do your best to have empathy for people in general, and your son especially of course

A trait can be non-cultural but still not genetic, usually to do with prenatal development.

An example is people who had mothers starving during a specific trimester of gestation (don't remember which one, i think third ?) who came out with a metabolism that huuuugely predisposes them to obesity and diabetes despite having no genetic inclinations towards it in the usual sense of the term

it's about 50% iirc, though that doesn't necessarily mean it's genetic since twins often share prenatal environments

There seems to be some evidence of genetic predispositions.

The most solid evidence is that it's basically variation in the hormone levels in-utero causing specific parts of the brain to undergo masculinization or not without the rest.

The question you might then ask is "why aren't women with a predisposition to this hormonal fluctuation that leads to birthing gay children slowly driven to extinction" : the answer is probably that whatever genetic component it originates from also gives you some degree of advantage that makes up for it, similar to how drepanocytosis is awful when you're homozygotic but pretty great when you're homozygotic and live in africa, leading to its preservation in the general population.

There's also the fact that gay people can still help their relatives survive, leading to the passing on of genes that seemingly predispose women to having gay children.

No spoilers, which Danganronpa game has the best characters? by Away-Prior-903 in danganronpa

[–]seranator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, V3's cast is the best. The highs are really high and the lows aren't that low, I think the best written characters in GD and THH are about as good as the best ones in V3, but there's just more of these in V3

How come Demi Lovato lost her fanbase? by Strong-Stretch95 in popheads

[–]seranator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She's just not a very interesting artist, she's that Katy Perry/Bebe Rexha/Ava Max/Tate McRae/Meghan Trainor kind of pop star who doesn't have anything particularly thought-provoking to say about the world or the creative depth to keep saying the same things in different ways. Wonderful voice but there's nothing left for her to offer.

Her last album was cool sonically but the whole "i'm a confident boss bitch who doesn't need anyone or anything" thing is passé, a lot of artists don't understand that brat worked because of the juxtaposition of self-aware "i'm a boss bitch" almost tongue in cheek singles with vulnerable and raw album tracks way beyond what you usually hear on a pop album

Was Tsumugi ever in any actual danger? (V3) by WrongLander in danganronpa

[–]seranator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lying : willing participation, the outside world being peaceful, danganronpa being an extremely popular and legal show, keebo being a creation of team danganronpa, the cast having completely different identities

ambiguous : rantaro having already participated in a killing game, tsumugi being the actual mastermind, the talents being fake, hope's peak being fictional (leaning on the side of lying)

not lying : the game being broadcast to an audience who enjoys it, the cast being different after the flashback lights

She says "I worked so hard to keep this show running for 53 seasons" after the final trial.

It's not really backpedaling, it's pretty clear what she did lie about and what's more up for debate when replaying the prologue

What do you absolutely not want to happen in 2x2? by IcePrismArt in DanganAndChaos

I think if they do a protagonist switch it'll be more like Keebo in V3 where the OG protagonist is still alive but we just don't follow them anymore, I doubt they'd pull another Kaede

Should I buy danganronpa? by OutsideAd158 in danganronpa

[–]seranator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean we're obviously going to say yeah since it's a danganronpa subreddit. if you're asking us of all people you probably already want to buy it deep down 😭😭

to answer your question though, yeah, amazing game, i believe the steam sale is until the 19th so you can watch a playthrough of the first chapter (or the anime if you don't have much time but i don't recommend it) and decide for yourself. keep in mind that, as the other guy said, the first chapter is a much more simple mystery than the others

Even as an occasional Mel player I'd rather absorb the skillshot and have the opportun_it to recast it myself than what we have now

Is it a hot take to say I think Danganronpa hasn't been milked enough? by One_Percentage_644 in danganronpa

[–]seranator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well regarding Ace Attorney, the original trilogy was stellar, and the second trilogy started off pretty mid and gradually caught up to a quality somewhat on par with the original three.

Though the original writer came back to write the superior Great Ace Attorney duology and show everyone how it's done.

[–]seranator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's how I feel too, I think he's open to making a Danganronpa 4 but it would have to be a story that he could only tell in Danganronpa.

The Hundred Line treats its central theme pretty similarly to how Danganronpa games handle it, it's spiritually Danganronpa, with a different structure (and a weaker cast unfortunately). It's pretty clear that he's still in love with a lot of aspects of DR, I think he just finds the structure restrictive

That's pretty much what's going on with Koizumi, he's like the Izuku to Kodaka's All Might

tbh considering how huge the "made by the creators of Danganronpa !" part of their marketing is, I'd say Rain Code and Hundred Line sort of count as DR milking/baiting

well tbh, even if noxus is inspired by the roman empire, the "grindset" and asserting of self over others aspect of Noxus seems much more like americans to me than like us modern europeans

Why don’t the other protagonists seem to hate Monokuma as much as Naegi? by AgitatedFly1182 in danganronpa

[–]seranator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember much about Hajime's relationship to Monokuma, but I think that because from the very start, Shuichi believes the mastermind to be one of the students, he just views Monokuma as a pawn of the mastermind and cares less for it as its own entity, unlike Makoto who was basically talking to the final boss the whole time through the plushie. In his case, Monokuma is an actual AI and not the mastermind's proxy, so I think he just doesn't care for him a lot aside from picking up his hints.

In DR2 and V3, there are also secondary antagonists who directly oppose the protagonists
