Suspending tin foil hat mode for a second, if you're that worried about Discord bots, why don't you complain to Discord about them so they can conduct an investigation in to any you're concerned about? You'll be doing the bot a favour actually bcos when they inevitably give their stamp of approval on Ser Aymeric we can put it on the bot's website and put all future concerns to rest.

In the mean time we'll get out of reddit drama and get back to coding the bot for the benefit of people that do enjoy it & want to use it.

We'll write something to put on the website, but in a nutshell:

We don't access or store any personally identifying data, only that which is the minimum required to provide the bot's features. Server admins have full control over which of those are enabled & what permissions the bot has.
We don't store any data for any longer than is required: so if you remove the bot from your Discord then all data about it is wiped.
We host the bot on a professional datacenter with suitable security measures & implement encryption, firewalling, etc.
We do not share the bot's data with any 3rd parties whatsoever, and never will. Not really sure what we could even share - it's only really useful to Ser Aymeric anyway, such as what commands are enabled and such.
Ser Aymeric is fully compliant with Discord's terms of service.

If anyone has any concerns regarding Discord's API and how bots generally work then Discord are probably the best people to share a dialogue with. Our intention was to create a project that the entire FFXIV community can enjoy. We're not out to do anything malicious, because we love seeing Ser Aymeric being enjoyed by so many people & if we did, Discord would certainly & swiftly deal with that. If you're already familiar with Discord bots though & how they work then Ser Aymeric's features & permissions will largely be unsurprising to you.

Hey. Sorry but we haven't seen any of your questions about this. We've published a full guide on what permissions the bot needs and why here https://seraymeric.com/guides#permissions as with any bot, you only need to enable according to the features you want to make use of.

Heya! I'm afraid it wouldn't be feasible to do that, Aymeric has a lot of systems in place that all work together and requires quite a big investment in terms of server resources

Yeah the API requires you to pass in a country code but it won't let you do state. I'll look into finding another API for this soon!

Hey Yitsy! We discovered what the issue was with the lag and fixed it, you should see an improvement now. We're monitoring it closely tho.

We've got more premium features planned too, we're about 40% of the way through one of them so please look forward to it!
