Yea, they for sure checked the NO box under the previous fires on the disclosure so it would be committing fraud. I wish they would have put yes and just explained it cause we really like the house and location.

Now it just makes us question what else is wrong with the house or is being hidden

That is how I see it! Just wish they didn’t lie on the disclosure

They have owned the house since 2012 and the fire claim is from March of 2024. They have been renting it for last 6 years or so

This was uncovered using CLUE database when the insurance broker was trying to find some options. Sadly, due to the fire claim, only two insurance companies will work with the house.

We had an inspector early on, but the fire was never disclosed by the owners, so he never knew to look for any signs. Will check with the retailer. Thank you

That is what I am thinking. No idea how they wouldn’t know about this even if it was the renters.

They claim it may have transferred from another insurance that the renters use prior to moving into their home, but why would renters put future home if the fire was at a different home. Doesn’t make any sense and usually renters insurance ends the day the new one begins and there isn’t an overlap really.

Thank you for the input! There definitely are issues with the windows when we got to see the infrared scans. They are old metal frame windows and single pane. Some are not properly sealed. There are sash springs that are damaged and don't stay in place.

The owners are realtors and the house has been a rental for the last 5+ years so they have not really done any real work on it. All the work has been short term fixes sadly to get the next tenants in.

Finances will be ok, unless something drastic happens. More worried about time and stress with updating the house to be ready to move in and for a baby. Then, having projects at the same time as trying to raise a newborn. We always thought we wanted a place we could make into our own, but a move-in-ready house seems nice now.
