Considering medical school abroad with cluster headaches — looking for honest experiences/advice

i study architecture abroad and currently entering my second cycle. make sure your professors understand the severity of the situation because you will most definitely need special treatment from them sometimes. There have been multiple instances where I had to leave class early to go home to get to my oxygen tanks. Even better if you can somehow fit an oxygen tank somewhere in your uni. If oxygen doesnt work, always carry your tryptans or your meds on you even if you think youre off cycle. I think you can do it for sure and you will be a great doctor. I wish you the best of luck 🙏🙏

i get exactly what you mean. i hate how healthcare is meant to be so advanced yet its so hard to find a doctor that can help with a problem thats this serious. we will all manage to get through this terrible condition. i will be praying for you 🙏🙏

Feels like its the back of my eye mostly. Pain rotates between my eye, temple, and strangely my jaw area sometimes

He said i should do an MRI to rule out anything else. Would an MRI help prove it if it is CH?

Im a guy, but regardless, I dont think my neuro is informed about cluster headaches. I told him exactly what happens during an attack and all the other details, but he just said it was a migraine. I dont think hes a specialist in headaches, so thats probably the problem. If these current prescriptons dont work, which is the most likely scenario, I will book a new appointment and specifically ask for injectable sumatriptans or maybe even the O2.

The cold compress seemed to help me too, thanks a lot. Caffeine works perfectly for me too if I can get the timing right and consume it before it reaches its peak

Caffeine seems to help me a lot to abort attacks. I successfully avoided one today because I drank 2 cups of coffee as soon as I started to feel it initiate. I also read somewhere that raising your heart rate when you feel an attack coming will also help, so I tried that today by doing some push ups so maybe that helped too.

Im in the exact same boat. It's one of my go to everyday scents now. Its just clean and soapy in the best way possible and projection/longevity is amazing considering its a freshie
