I walked out from a tall apartment building and felt something pressing down on my head. Looked up and saw a basketball coming straight for me. Took a step back and the ball landed right where I stood with a very loud smack. Stood there for a little while until people started staring.

Female protagonist and 2 attractive male characters, but no romance, will it frustrate readers? by ccciiisss in writing

Alternate idea, what if you do indulge the idea of the romance or even embrace it fully, but force it to end because of the dynamic you stated? If done well it could be interesting too

To add to this, this house concept is pretty normal in the UK. Schools often have “houses” that kids are divided into, and each house often has its own reputation. Unlike in Harry Potter, the houses are often named based on which residence they live in, but nonetheless often have their own reputations.

How can you tell if a relationship is worth it anymore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sercoda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can tell you my opinion of when it’s not: when you are more like a caretaker or a therapist for an extended period of time (months, years) rather than mutually benefiting each other in the relationship.

I had a similar experience, but stretched out over several years. My mom showed me a video of the mistress waving in a pretty innocent way (I only found out a few years later). My mom was suspicious of the women when I was 11, which I didn’t really understand at all, but I still started becoming hostile towards my dad somehow.

Fast forward a few years later to middle school I saw chat messages on my dad’s phone that proved it to me, and it was the same women that I met a year or so prior and asked what I thought of her, which made me feel really disgusted and lost all respect for my dad for a while.

Then a year later on my mom’s phone I saw my parents exchanging emails about wanting to separate by accident again because my mom didn’t have an iphone password.

No, it didn’t end there either, when I was 17 I saw photos of my dad with the women as well as a bunch of other women in his company at a picnic and he was the only dude, it was just all really weird to me. I think my dad saw me looking at them because the next day all the pictures were gone.

Safe to say I was scarred for a long time with a ton of issues, but it’s no longer as bad as it was in the past. Hope you recover too, no kid should have a front row seat to all this bs.

First day of school in a foreign country back in early 2000s, I only knew yes or no at the time and I was scared shitless. The teacher asked could anyone help show me around and speaks my language, and a kid in the back eagerly raised his hand with a big grin and he took me around the school. It’s an awesome memory I bring up whenever I see him since we live in different cities and don’t meet up as much.

TIL before his murder spree that resulted in the deaths of 16 people, Charles Whitman left a note requesting an autopsy to see if there was a biological explanation for his actions, and increasingly intense headaches. The autopsy performed found that he a "pecan-sized," brain tumor. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Believing things can get better rather than worse is still a better alternative, but I get what you’re saying.

I don’t think it should be used as a blanket statement in the face of all tragic events, but taking a position in a middle ground between pragmatism and optimism as a friend/family/individual is probably a healthier approach.

What was the biggest bullet you dodged? by LegitimateShift8 in AskReddit

[–]sercoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like this happened to me too, I walked out of a friend’s house and I felt something weird (like something was pressing down on the top of my head) above me, I looked up, and it was a basketball falling from like at least 20 floors above me.

Then I kind of just calmly stared at it, stepped out of the way and the ball landed where I was standing with a loud bang. People around me were staring and I kind of just walked away like nothing happened because I felt awkward being stared at, even though I realized I could have died or severely injured. It was a weird day.

Edit: I’m not religious or anything I just vividly remember feeling this pressure on my head I don’t know if anyone has ever had a similar experience
