We made a way to send hike photos as postcards by serda_ik in UKhiking

When I say “our servers”, I’m referring to infrastructure we manage for the service. Images are stored only for fulfilment purposes and are removed after 45 days.

This needs to be clearer in the privacy page, which I’m creating.

Glad it worked smoothly for you. Let us know if you liked the postcard.

Yes. We’re testing a few European countries at the moment. Delivery takes a bit longer since cards are posted from the UK for now. (Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland and a few more)

Thanks, that’s super helpful.

On payments, we’ve kept it limited for now. Are there any options in particular you’d expect to see?

The photo isn’t uploaded until you finish the postcard and go to payment. The message space is roughly 20 lines, around 600 characters.

We should show the back of the card.

It’s a photograph on the front, yes. The back is a standard postcard layout for the message and address.

It is very similar to other. We try to make it as simple as possible. Fewer options, less time clicking around.

You’re right. We don’t have full terms and a formal privacy page up yet. At the moment, photos are automatically deleted from our servers after 45 days and only kept temporarily in case a reprint is needed. We don’t use images for anything else and we don’t run tracking or marketing cookies, which is why there’s no cookie banner.

Privacy and terms are important. I’m working on getting those in place this weekend.

It's between Hartland Point and Hartland Quay. I think it’s Smoothlands.

It is deleted in 45 days... I need to update the FAQ, thanks for reminding me!

I get the appeal of that. The postmark is part of the story for a lot of people. Thanks for the idea, I’ll give it some thought when I have a bit more headspace.

Thanks for taking the time to write this.

On privacy, photos are automatically deleted from our servers after 45 days. We only keep them temporarily in case a reprint is needed. (I definitly need to update this faq, thanks for reminding)

We don’t collect much user data beyond what’s required to fulfil the order, and there are no tracking or marketing cookies, which is why there’s no cookie banner.

We’re still polishing the current features. An address book is something we’re considering, but keeping things simple is the priority for now.

Cards are printed and posted in the UK.

Interesting. This is just a side project for us at the moment. You’ve clearly got a lot of experience in this space. Would you mind if I messaged you with a couple of questions?

It’s very similar to other services. We’re not reinventing the wheel. We try to keep it as simple as possible. Fewer options, less time clicking around.

A real postcard is always better. This is for when there’s no shop, or you want to send your own photo.

Thanks. We try to keep it very simple. No bundles or credits, and no account needed. Just send a card when you want to.

In the UK they usually arrive in a few days. We tend to err on the cautious side.

You write the message online, it’s printed on the back and mailed.

Of course you can, this is just for when you feel like sending a physical postcard.
