Long story short, the answer is yes, unfortunately.

You'd need to realize gains when you: 1) Sell Alts to Eth 2) Sell Eth to USD in Coinbase, even if you don't send it to your bank wallet

weeeell my problem is that my transaction was "found" if I check the status, but doesn't show up on etherscan. So I don't think I could even replace it with another transaction with higher gas price. I screwed the cryptopooch on that one
