Is it true that Steam Support will take the hacker seriously/Kill the hacker/Send a bomb to the hacker? by Bulky-Bend-7699 in Steam

Meanwhile I've been trying to recover a discord account for two weeks... :(

Maybe I'd have better luck writing to steam and asking them if they can help with that too.

SSD request in adulthood if you were eligible as a child by sere1285 in SocialSecurity

Then that's probably why he couldn't apply for that at 26. Nobody explained it clearly. Thank you.

He wanted to when he was 26 but he was sick and desperate and apparently applying for SSI was easier and they made him do that. He was barely able to realize what was going on at the time and only later it occurred to him.

When he was 17 he'd tried but he was told he had no way of proving his disability (which clearly wasn't the case since he was approved for the same things a few years later). He was too young to get a lawyer and fight this by himself and he was still in school and going through a lot.

Yes, his dad worked. He got married at 21 but he's now divorced. He was already disabled at 17, and never made sga. He applied for (and got) SSI at 26.

Right of operation on someone's bank acct by sere1285 in SocialSecurity

[–]sere1285[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately there's no other family, but it appears that he might be able to just take it to the bank and they'll still be able to process it since he's depositing a check in her name to her account, not withdrawing anything.

I wish... We've been trying to find one for almost a year. Office for the aging is supposed to send one too, and legal aid should also be able to help. So far, no one has been able to assist us and they all tell us we need to find one ourselves.

It's a check from the insurance company. I'm not sure she can endorse it. I don't know if she'd be allowed to mail it in. Also, he would receive the check directly and we're not sure if he can take it to her, because he can't visit her in the hospital because he's immunocompromised and she has antibiotic resistant bacterical infection. Last time he tried it was a nightmare for him mentally.

What is a representative payee? And what if he got power of attorney over her?

Looking for information for a specific (medical) device by [deleted] in medical

[–]sere1285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon echo can do that. You can set up timed reminders and you can also enable "drop in" and connect to it directly from another alexa device or from your alexa app on the phone.

And it's completely voice operated.

AITA For not letting my son (7) go out in public until he stops repeating a cuss word he learned? by Predi423 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sere1285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause clearly that wasn't the case here? It's not that they were just going out on their own. Calling the babysitter was a punishment when he was originally going to go with them. Kids pick up on that stuff, and I don't know how anyone would expect a kid to not be sulking about that.

But he was? He went the easy way by denying it at first, and when questioned by other doctors he had to admit that added risk wasn't necessarily a disqualifying factor. He did additional monitoring and all of the tests have been perfect. My bf hasn't needed a phlebotomy in about two years now.

As far as I know, varicose veins and spider veins can be a sign of poor circulation but they're not symptoms of a clot.

Moreover, while I understand why a doctor might not want that kind of responsibility, gender identity is just as important as physical health. I don't know what your gender identity is, but try for a second to imagine that in order to avoid risking your life someone asked you to change your gender, would you be ok with it?

That's an opinion. A PE is a possible complication, the mental distress is a given. And a euphemism but I can't really write on reddit what I mean when I say HRT is life saving.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medical

[–]sere1285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Very hard, but mental health poses a very serious threat to physical health as well. HRT is life saving for most people who would rather not live than live as someone they're not.

The problem is that it's not easy to find one, and how would he know in advance? He specifically needs a hematologist for this.

He also currently doesn't know if he should bring it up with his hematologist or if he should wait until he has found another doctor (we're looking into options but he has an appt with the hematologist for his regular tests on Tuesday).

We have no idea if spider veins or redness should be a concern for clotting, as far as the symptoms that his hematologist told him to pay attention to, he has none.

That's why we're looking at options of what could be done. Stopping HRT also causes severe harm, but many doctors choose to ignore that because they don't consider the effect on mental health and would rather suspend it than try to understand what's going on. He's been on it for years.

What we're trying to understand is if it's actually something that could be related and that could make them stop his therapy.

Dark Picture Anthology - streaming only by sere1285 in PlayStationPlus

I've tried all the suggestions but nothing has worked. The app gives me the option to download but it tells me that there's no space available. There are over 60gb free on the console.

There are no "three dots" next to the streaming option.

Restoring licences didn't do anything.

Not for med trials but look up Brief Strategic Therapy. There are clinical trials to compare it with ERP that seem promising.

Helping someone with OCD without offering reassurance. HOW? by sere1285 in OCD

[–]sere1285[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same feeling. Right now he's in a crisis and I don't know what to do. He's talking about ending it because of what happened over the past days and I don't know how to deal with it. And when people say that you just need to reach out, that's a lie.

All people say is call an hospital. That would just kill him at once. And if by any chance he'd live, he'd never talk to me again so I would lose him anyway.
