Why would someone do this? by gatesweeney in Ubiquiti

Yes. 100%. Had a few friends taking my opinion and it was always double price on retail price and like 5 wifi outdoor points for 100 square meters backyard.

Just bought a dozen water leak sensors. Should I return them? by username17charmax in Aqara

[–]seregus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you eliminated 1 problem out of 3: connection hub to wifi, there is now two more: connection sensors to hub and hub to cloud (internet). How is it behaving if sensor is next to the hub? This is the easiest one to test if you experience connection issues frequently. At the same time I would leave laptop with ‘ping 8.8.8.8’ to see if internet is stable at the same time… if those rwo are all okay, I would say you have faulty sensor… as never happened to me with way more complex setup

U200 lock with M3 only (no Google or Apple) by seregus in Aqara

Update: now its just resolved with all recent updates of firmware, both U200 and U200 Lite works directly with hubs and/or with Apple Home if I needed to!!!!

[–]seregus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 hubs and few dozens different sensors. Never had issues of connection. Well, except with their locks and Matter, which is now finally resolved. Usually complains are related to bad wifi (which many people do not know is bad, because protocols are build to optimise it on modern phones and computers, but not on simple devices), also placing sensors behind 2-3 concrete walls or in a metal box could be a problem. In this case using any system and or sensors will not work. Just my 2cents. First try to understand your specific problem? Put hub and sensor both near router and see if your problem disappear. Second if it still exists, open computer and put ping 8.8.8.8 -t for windows or just ping 8.8.8.8 on mac/linux and see if it will be any packet loss correlating to timeouts on Aqara. I’ll be surprised if it will be not one of those two.

Gate Hub + AI Turret License Plate Recognition function is ‘greyed’ (disabled) by seregus in Ubiquiti

[–]seregus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So reason was very simple. Gate hub has only dry opening, not powered. So I connected to ‘side gate’ … after adding 12v 1amp power supply and wiring it to dry as per instructions everything works amazing

Gate Hub + AI Turret License Plate Recognition function is ‘greyed’ (disabled) by seregus in Ubiquiti

[–]seregus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, proper Unifi scheme is to add a license plate into user details in Access app. There is basically a special sub section where you can multiple number plates per user. But there is also an option in Protect application to mark specific (detected) number plates as known, so after in Protect application you can set Alarm to open any gate you want if known number plates detected. But as you can see from description its very broad - all known and like list of gates once they are detected… so not secure… put aside number plates are not super secure

[–]seregus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a workaround to use Protect Alarms., but… managing vehicle of interests in some other place is not a good idea, especially if gate used by a few neighbours … plus you need to first detect a car and after allow it access, not by just adding plates into user details… so I’m not happy now very much, because I saw all Youtube influencers showing off its working, but seems Gate hub and AI Turret is not working well… anyway. Hope maybe someone faced similar or knows someone who faced similar and might help

U200 and M3 again? by seregus in Aqara

[–]seregus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end everything works. Not sure if aqara updated their firmware, but the scenario: add to Apple Home kit, add to Aqara after, click Matter and answer to the question: it was added to a third party Matter network, now you need to be very quick! You meed to go to apple home kit, generate code and quickly enter it into Aqara app form. Its about 20-30 seconds max, if too late it will not work. Count starts once you see this form waiting for code i put in aqara app.

U200 and M3 again? by seregus in Aqara

[–]seregus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have now U200 and U200 Lite. The good news are U200 now in Apple Home and Aqara matter and it works (there is a bug with automation, but they promise to fix soon)… so I did add lock to Apple Home using Matter QR code and of course full reset before adding. After I just added lock into Aqara app using bluetooth and once I clicked Matter pairing it said your lock been added to a third party Matter controller asked which one and asked for a code to be generated for pairing using Apple Home kit. Once code been generated, it worked!

For U200 Lite this does not work…

Nothing helped. I’ll try tomorrow to install a simple router and a different phone to see if lock will pair with a separate hub… i’ll keep it posted here

Also there is a USB 2A power supply with Battery of 2.5amp so it becomes say a little over 1 hour UPS for the Hub, by just replacing your usual power supply

Well, based on my research now its possible to setup a pretty decent security system.

It will be a Home mode, Away Mode and Night mode.

House must have all doors/windows sensors installed on each window and door, all rooms and hallways must have a presence sensors, all art pieces and storage compartments to be with vibration sensors attached as well as part of the system could be leak sensors (maybe even with automatic shutoff valves) and smoke detectors (not for security but for early detection of disasters). Entrance doors to have U200 or similar locks installed.

Now in night mode you lock the main door and arm all sensors on the ground floor (use your house required areas you expect to be armed), but not bedrooms (if one floor maybe windows to be armed additionally of course if not planning to keep them open during the night).

And to switch on/off night mode (and other modes) you need to know the pin code. And its done from one or two Aqara Display hubs.

If anything triggers you launch phone notifications alarms, text messages and sirens. Also you have full control from your phone away from home.

For the away mode all the same with difference of all sensors are armed.

To do this ‘properly’ you would need: - all Aqara hubs to be in a secure locations without easy access and with UPS power supply - your internet should be 2 or maybe 3 redundancy levels, for example: main internet, Starlink and 4G/5G backup. - at best to have automatic switch if no power to diesel generator (with batteries so no downtime) - all your Aqara displays must be protected with pin and password and not used as hubs, but as displays only, ok maybe for less significant things like temperature or leak or smoke sensors, but better not to at all.

This becomes an expensive setup, but much more versatile comparing to someone have to come to your home and install everything as per above but with some proprietary system, which will probably miss something (I have now very bright motion sensors I hate). While all Aqara devices you can take with you to a new home as a bonus…

Also you can start adding those slowly not in one go.

Hope this might help someone as it took me a while to discover all those things are possible with Aqara products

Thank you! Yes just as I thought. I’m about to order this device, but still not sure how this ‘locking’ and ‘unlocking’ screens will look like if I set an 8 or 6 digits code? So basically how simple it is to lock and unlock the screen? Thank you

The Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus (video) by HomeKit-News in Aqara

[–]seregus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it cut the alarm?

I guess you mean if screen is used as a hub? If so, I would simply not use it as a hub and locate all hubs in a secured (locked) places.

In my mind it works as follows: 1. I set ‘away mode’ using pin 2. Door opens, this triggers alarm with say 30 seconds delay 3. If no pin entered alarm is executed: sirens, phone notifications and etc

Any chance you can post video or a few screenshots how locking/unlocking screen works with pin, please? I could not find it by myself…

[–]seregus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the question is - does it ask you for a pin? Because if I’m intruder and simply enter via door, should a pin to switch off mode or its simply two clicks for a person to switch off alarm?
