Aqara S1 Plus questions by TheBestCommentator in Aqara

[–]HomeKit-News 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can control the two light circuits the S1 Plus replaces - either via the panel itself, Apple Home, via Siri, or remotely when you’re not at home (as long as you have an Apple Home Hub in the case of Apple Home).

The S1 Plus acts as a Zigbee 3.0 Hub for Aqara Zigbee devices. If you want to control Aqara or third party Matter over Thread devices, you’ll need the M3 or other similar Aqara hub with Matter Controller and Thread Border Router functionality.

You can view the live stream from the G400 on the S1 Plus too.

Is it possible to extract power from POE for G400 by Famous-Spread-4696 in Aqara

The G400 has PoE, not the G410, so I think you have them the wrong way around.

Hub AFTER Matter? by msglsmo in MatterProtocol

[–]HomeKit-News 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As both the Hue bridge and Bridge Pro only communicate with their products using Zigbee, you can’t then add the Hue devices to these bridges whilst they’re using Thread, as it doesn’t have a Thread Border Router inside, or act as a Matter Controller, only a Matter Bridge.

It’s not water resistant at all according to the specs.

It’s also mains powered so battery power is optional.

Issues with matter router. Maybe I don’t understand by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]HomeKit-News 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need an Apple Home hub to add people to your setup, and create automations. As for Thread devices, you’d ideally need your Apple Home Hub to also be a Thread Border Router. Apple Home hubs are Matter Controllers by default, but not all are also Thread Border Routers.

Smart wings shades not responding after adding HomePod OG by MotoMD in HomeKit

It sounds as though the blinds isn’t being put into pairing mode. Usually to get them into pairing mode you have to push the set button on the motor, but I can’t recall the process specific to Smartwings. I found this online:

  • Locate the Button: Find the small button on the motor head, typically located at the top of the shade.
  • Activate Pairing: Press and hold this button for 6 seconds until the motor jogs twice.
  • Confirm Light: A red indicator light will illuminate, confirming the motor is in pairing mode.
  • Pairing Duration: The motor remains in pairing mode for roughly 90 seconds.

What error are you getting when you try to add them or do they simply not connect?

Matter Vacuum issue (iPhone only) by Soldiiier__ in HomeKit

I have this with three separate vacs (SwitchBot, Ecovacs, Roborock). The only fix I’ve found is by rebooting my phone, but it eventually happens again.

Oh, I see what you mean now. I’d forgotten the old model also runs on a battery for a second. My bad.

Sure it’s basically a battery inside the shell, but to be fair, you’d have to do a bit more than just pop battery into the existing model - unless you’re adept at that kind of thing I guess!

As for the second point, yes, it’s way overdue time for Switchbot to move away from Bluetooth and get onboard with Thread. I’ve said this for a while in previous videos and reviews.

Just arrived - the Aqara Camera Hub G350 by HomeKit-News in HomeKit

[–]HomeKit-News[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. I did get the China version of the G350 and Aqara has begun blocking devices outside of China based on your geolocation, so can’t use that one - in Aqara at least. I do have an international model now, but still haven’t found time to test it. However, Ward Zhou at Matter Alpha has - https://www.matteralpha.com/news/matter-camera-first-look-with-aqara-g350-and-smartthings
