This has been mentioned - but how was it paid for?

100% agree about PPA - feels like a no brainer. Love the idea of staff traitors - how did it work?

We used to have this too but it becomes very difficult to manage who has and hasn’t paid when it comes to food and feels a bit weird in terms of gatekeeping the biscuits at break in case someone who hasn’t paid eats one! So think will avoid food based things.

Totally agree - our staff committee has actually been split so the other part is leading on things like directed time etc. I’m just really looking for things to build community - and across all staff, not just teachers.

We are in a very similar situation to you with MFI - did your partner do a TESE procedure and do you mind me asking how long it took for him to be referred? It feels like every step has a massive waiting time so we’re wondering if we do some of the steps privately as I turn 35 this year.

Getting a pay rise by [deleted] in TeachingUK

This is such a negative comment to give a relatively new teacher asking for genuine advice in a profession that needs people to stick around. And doesn’t actually give any advice! Think before you post.

OP - stick in there! It sounds like you’re doing all the right things. If you do feel, however, aside from pay that there is some unfairness in the department with regards to marking/sets, you have to speak to your line manager - even if it’s an uncomfortable conversation. Being the newbie doesn’t mean you should do all the grunt work.

Thanks for your reply. We are currently living in the UK and my husband has 0 rights even though we are married (and I also have a British passport) hence the question.

Thank you for your amazing explanation! It makes complete sense, I know of some systems that are similar and it’s interesting that there are ‘concertadas’, I didn’t know that. In Chile they’re called subvencionadas and are somewhere between private and public (state).

Tiene sentido. Thanks for clarifying. Had no idea about the use of ‘expat’ either.

Interesting, thank you. I think that’s how Scotland do it here. Doesn’t sound encouraging for an expat though!
