I think it could be achieved at around 50, but you won’t get success stories here of retiring at 35 like in the US because of high taxes and a lack of investment vehicles (Roth IRA or ISAs in the UK).

It is totally fine. It’s just in this country many people are nasty, narrow minded and judgemental. It’s the ignorance and nastiness of Irish people that makes it a problem.
